WTB Shockey Weight

Post by SmokinNJokin on 10/29/2018, 6:40 am

Long shot, but here it goes.

I am looking for the weight INSERT for an R.L. Shockey 1911 weight mount (goes under the dust cover). I have the lighter insert (just looks like a straight section of rod) Looking for the bigger one that protrudes out past the barrel and has a larger radius. Looks like a piston. If you have one or know where one is for sale, I would greatly appreciate it.

if you find on, would you be so kind and post dimensions?

I have a Shockey 1911, have the weight on the dust cover, but am missing the insert,

my brother has one as well, but his has the smaller insert,

would like to make one for both our guns,

There's a great idea! If I can't find one for sale, I'm sure there's someone on our forum who has one we can copy. Should be fairly simple to make one on a lathe.

So you need just the cylindrical insert portion of this ?
Can you measure precisely or send the female receiver ? It looks pretty straightforward to make different weights.

It would be pretty straightforward, but for me it kind of defeats the purpose of a collector's item (all-original shockey gun). To make a replica, I still need an original shockey weight to copy, otherwise it will be guesswork.

my plan, when I ever get the free time, is to try a few different screws to see what the pitch is, and just turn one,

I have some steel, a lathe,  but have not taken the time to do it,
