Marvel for Kimber 1911

I'm new to Bullseye pistol.
I've been to Camp Perry pistol SAFS a couple times, and I decided I would like to shoot bullseye.
I've got a Kimber 1911 target pistol that I plan to use to get started.
I'm thinking about purchasing a Marvel Precision Unit 1 conversion kit, and using the same gun for all three disciplines.

Does any one use their 1911 as both a .45 cal. and .22 cal. gun?

Is this a feasible option, or am I just asking for trouble?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I think it's feasible. As long as your Kimber shoots good groups at 50 yards, and you are able to get the Marvel to function well on your Kimber then it should be fine.

It's so important to have equipment that you can count on. Your mind can't be worried about the equipment letting you down.

It is definitely feasible. My other suggestion would be if you have a .22 already like a Ruger Mk to use that to start out. Switching slides in between matches is doable but can be a hassle. A Browning Buckmark or Ruger can be had for less than the Marvel. Both of them are excellent for beginners to bullseye IMO.

I don't, but I know of some very good expert-level shooters who do this.
There is a downside, in that your 22cal trigger pull will be at 3.5 pounds instead of the minimum 2lbs allowed for 22cal. It may or may not be a big disadvantage to you.

Personally, I think buying a Ruger mark 2 or 3 5.5" bull barrel pistol, used if you an find it, would be an easy and cheap option to get you started. As you get more experience you will figure out what elements are important to you and that will guide you how to spend your valuable $$$ on a competition firearms.
