Group buy AR lowers? Unable to get this together sorry

Post by Founder on 1/6/2013, 6:13 pm

I have been unsuccessful in my attempts to work with a vendor on a decent price break for dealer cost or a group buy. It is a sellers market right now and nothing I can do to change that. Availability is getting worse by the moment! Pmag just hit the 1 million mark for backordered mags, this is not a good situation.

If you do not have an AR currently and would like one I still recommend Code Red Firearms as they are at least giving a projected lead time of 6-8 weeks.

Wish this would have worked out.

Joe

As above, 1-2, depending on price (and manufacturer) ... likely could get a few more orders from acquaintances in my clubs as well.

Ok here is the manufacture of the lowers I am looking into.

CODE RED FIREARMS

Description:
The Code Red Firearms stripped AR15 lower receiver is machined from a mil spec 7075 aluminum forging. Machine tolerances meet or exceed mil spec requirements. AR Lowers are hard coat anodized and dyed black (standard) per MIL-A-8625F Type III Class 2 inside and out. All AR 15 lower receivers are sold in semi-automatic configuration with bullet pictograms for Safe/Fire. Uses standard take-down and fire control pins.

One of our forum sponsors knows the owners of this newer company and he tells me these are top notch and I do trust him. I believe this is the former Detroit Gun Works from what I have read on the AR15 forum.
Right now this is the only place I can find that can get lowers in the near future. At least metal ones, there are some polymers floating around that I just am not sure about.

My concern is a potential ban as you likely know is looming and with the current political climate and the media machine hard at work to promote it scares the crap out of me! Shocked The other name brands are not even quoting lead times currently.

These show on their site as $149 retail. RRA is currently at $140, I would expect similar or better quality from the Code Red.

This is what I know at the moment. Let me know if you are still interested with this brand.

As long as it's down around the $150 mark I'll take one.

I was toying with the idea of highpower before this conflagration hit. There was one low end AR briefly available last week for 2K$. I'd take one of the lowers if we can work out payment and transfer logistics.

Guys I have invested a lot of time into this so far but I am not seeing the pricing I was hoping to. Unfortunately it is a sellers market right now. And the most recent news of "sweeping" changes possible before months ends has me quite nervous. That and obama threatening executive order is the legislation does not meet his time table.

I was hoping to get these in your hands for around $125 each delivered, that price ain't happening and the lead times got pushed out 6-8 weeks. RRA (and others) have now published indefinite backorder for lowers, my guess they are concentrating on complete rifles. That is just my guess. You may have better turn around on a single purchase with Code Red than I was getting with a larger order?

Unless something falls in my lap that is too good to pass up I am throwing in the towel. I would suggest buying an AR rifle or lower wherever you can if you want to own one before any changes in our current laws.

I am going to lock this thread, reach me via email or PM with questions or comments.

I gave it my best shot, sorry to disappoint you all. Crying or Very sad

Not a problem Joe - I was shocked there was even a chance at it.
Thanks for making the effort.
On the legal side of things, I'm becoming concerned that we could see uppers and options to rebarrel an existing gun curtailed. After the colossal failure of the last AWB, the pols are unlikely to "underspecify" a ban this time. Since NY and some nat'l politicians are actively discussing disallowing any future transfers of existing guns (they go with you into the coffin), it's only a small step for them to realize that banning sales of uppers and barrels will reduce the number in circulation much more rapidly than simply banning the lower that BATF currently defines as the firearm.
So, at the moment, I'm more concerned about extending the lifespan of what I own than about acquiring more.
