Scope mounting Empty Scope mounting

I have a model 41 with a match dot scope a couple of the guys on my league said all I need is to mount it with one ring. Does anyone have any feed back on this?

It has been done elsewhere.

I prefer two rings. Even with both rings on the front with the extension screwed on.

you can get by with one on a 22, but it doesnt do well even on a 32 or larger
