Slabs or Anatomical on your 1911 45 or 22

This has been discussed before but for the new guys or us olds ones always looking for the better scores. Give us your thoughts on the best grip you have come up with for the 1911 based on accuracy and performance not that it helps your ball gun scores, we know that aspect already.

Slabs on the 22 conversion and 45. After learning how to grip the gun properly I found anatomical grips to be without purpose.

Slabs are all I have ever used

853 with 24x's shot in 1981 iron sights

887 Slabs.

Shot an 849 last weekend with slabs and finger grip overlays from Midway with my 1911. I have spent the last month reading Brian Zins article about grip and that has really helped.

I use a High Standard for rimfire and a week before the match received a set of Randal Fung grips I had ordered. I shot an 808 which is my worst score ever. Even worse than my very first match where I used open sights.

Scores the same. In the 870s at best but either can go down 20-30 points. More if I really suck, and it ain't the fault of the grips. Nill grips are just so comfy. Rink, not so comfy. "Slabs" on the 1911 work well, but the clones on other guns usually are lacking. High Std Military is excellent.

Ya know it really depends on the size and shape of your hand.

I've tried them all, but the best 50 yd .45 slow fires I ever shot were 98 and 97 with slabs.

Ok seems most are ending up with slabs, another question then is with slabs what type mainspring housing do you prefer and why, arched or flat?

flat I have small hands and the flat MSH gives a better grip for me

Flat MSH with medium or long trigger.
Kind of a throwback to JMBs original, I guess.

Anybody use the wedge MS housing ? if so what does it give you a flat or arched doesnt?

It's sized between the flat and arched.
I prefer arched because the sights align naturally with that shape as opposed to flat.

Sounds odd, but on lighter kicking handguns, ie .22 or 38 special autos, I get better scores with the anatomical grips. But, on the .45 I prefer slab sides. Go figure, I'm a bit screwy
