Shocked

After earning my Marksman 35 years ago when I was a teen, (my family owned the police range and I had unfettered time to practice daily) I just got back on the bike again. Whoooo purchased my new Smith & Wesson, .357 Magnum, 686-6, 4" barrel and enjoying all the fine shots. Starting all over again, wanting to get involved. I work as a fashion photographer and did a "fashion" spread of my firearm, was loads of fun. Anyone from Htown give me a shout out, or anyone with any newbie info please feel free to clink my bell. Thanks!

Sandy,
You look just like Marilyn Monroe!  Shocked
Welcome to the forum, and welcome back to bullseye!

Newbie tips:
1.You can only shoot as good as your wobble area so don't try to force an X on every shot.  Just let the shot happen.  If your wobble is from 8 ring to 8 ring and your shot is an 8 or better, you did good!
2. Dryfiring does help
3. If you aren't dryfiring shoot as often as you can.
4. Shooting in matches helps more than practice.
5. Every shot is an opportunity to be pleased with yourself.  Each X is a job well done.
6. Have fun.

Ha! I use that photo because I am a fashion photographer and because she looks just like my mom in her younger years. I am told I look just like my mom, so you do the math.

I just purchased my Smith & Wesson 686-6, .357 Magnum, 4" barrel and I took it out and got bored very quickly with the 38 specials, so I went up to the 125 grain .357 magnum, boring... on up to the 158 grain .357 magnum... almost fun... on up to the 180 grain .357 magnum... now we're talkin'.

I loved hitting bulls eyes at 25 yards with that.

I am looking for some 200 grain, .357 magnum so I can try that out.

I noticed when I put the same 180 grain in my friend's 6" barrel it was like butter as compared to my 4" barrel.

Right now I'm just exploring my firearm, checking out all the calibers and grains, going to settle on one and set my sights in. But for now, I am totally enjoying this.

I love the single action accuracy, and I mostly love it when I took a class the very first day I shot my firearm and had a 100% bulls eye rate for 100 rounds.

Like riding a bicycle. ^..^

If you like the single action feel of the .357, then you will love a 1911 shooting hardball 230gr FMJs.  The Springfield "Range Officer" model is a good choice.

Sandy, check out the Bullseye Encyclopedia. It's a link in the home page of this forum. It will tell you all about our sport. It's more about precision and less about blasting. New From Houston, Texas 1883569342

Didn't Browning create the 1911?? I am actually awaiting a call from the Texas Ranger's Museum in Waco, Tx to confirm exactly what firearms my great, great grandfather used, I believe that was one of them.

I've never been a big fan of the semi automatic pistol, not sure why, but I'm sure they are nice to shoot. Don't think I'll ever handle one until I take a class on the model as I am totally unfamiliar with it.

Thanks Larry! Ya, my neighbor does some reloads, and of course they are easy to shoot and easier hitting targets, I can see how the modified ammo would be exclusively used in competition. I'm a power junkie and I love feeling the blast go through my entire chest, I love hitting a bulls eye with that powerful ammo, just for fun, but very interested in bulls eye "popcorn" Smile  competition norms. I will check it out. Thanks!

P.S. Larry, I just got on the phone to receive the Bulls Eye Rule Book. Thanks for pointing me towards that dictionary.
