Question re mainspring housing

I want to change the mainspring housing on my Les Baer Hardball from the factory flat to an arched one I have on hand. The factory part is numbered to the gun. In terms of safety, reliability, and accuracy, how important is it to have this part fitted? The one I have will drop in. If memory serves, it is a Colt part.

Very rare that it wouldn't just swap in ... verify that the upper lip doesn't interfere with the grip safety and you're good to go.

Are you using the spring from the LB?  It might be different weight than the Colt.  That is the only thing I'd be concerned about.  Most likely won't matter but you should be aware of it.

Just switched it over and, yes, I used the Baer mainspring and associated parts in the Colt arched housing. Safety and function checks OK. Thanks.

I swapped out my flat MSH to an arched one, using the same spring and the weight did change a bit.  Guessing the position of the spring in the housing was a bit higher or lower than in the old one.

Internal dimensions can be different, cheap brands tend to be the culprits.
