Springfield on Gunbroker Empty Springfield on Gunbroker

This gun has been on here for a while. It keeps getting re listed. Nobody ever bids on it. It seems like a really good deal for a base gun. Is this a mil spec or a GI? The sights look mil spec, but it has a lanyard loop on the MSH and has vertical slide serrations. I know MSH's can be changed out. Is this a lowered port? I don't see the flare that's associated with the mil spec. The guy said it was a special run.

Not a lot of difference between these two. Mil-spec wouldn't have white dots. Magazine is different. The magazine shown on your post wouldn't be EIC legal. Grips are the new style on your post.

MIL-SPEC also has a lowered ejection port, angled cocking serrations, and larger sights.

Springfield used to outsource frames to Imbel in Brazil, which were great frames, but the Loaded, MIL-SPEC, and GI were sometimes assembled there and not always as well finished as those that were completed in the USA.  That is no longer the case and hasn't been for several years since Springfield Armory stopped outsourcing frames and assembly on lower end production pistols to Brazil.  Some of the early Brazilian vice US assembled GIs also had 2 piece vice 1 piece barrels.

You can purchase a new MIL-SPEC from Bud's with the correct magazines for $541 with no shipping charge.  By the time you purchase 2 magazines and pay a gunsmith to lower the ejection port the GI 1911 on gunbroker will cost you more than a new MIL-SPEC, which you know hasn't been tinkered with, has a 1 piece barrel, and carries the lifetime warranty from Springfield Armory, which technically only applies to the original purchaser.

IMO, that is probably why the listing never gets bids and for that price, shouldn't.
