I thought 7,000 might be high.  Turns out not so much.  If we did not have such cold winters I would shoot more.

When I was serious and working on my master card I was shooting just shy of 15000 rounds.
Now not so much probably just shy of 5000 rounds.

I voted less than 1,000 but with the caveat that I don't have the time I used to have due to my daughter shooting smallbore.  I normally shoot between $5,000-10,000 when I was shooting in a league and training and going to matches at least once per month.

Between 10k and 15k, but keep in mind this is 22lr only. It's relatively cheap and its easy to shoot for hours without getting tired.

This should have been how many QUALITY rounds do you fire a year for matches and practice! If you're shooting lots of rounds with no improvement you're wasting ammunition. I don't buy the if I'm enjoying shooting its ok unless your 80 years old. Quantity over quality doesn't help improve scores.

Personal experience tells me that once you have achieved a master/high master skill level you can really cut back on the practice round count, spend more time shooting matches,  and maintain pretty easy.  I can also say that if you lay off 18 years you'd better plan to pop some caps, burn some powder, and send some lead down range just to get your timing and rhythm back.

After answering this it came painfully clear to me I don't dry fire near enough and many of my live rounds are not quality rounds. 

My dry fire sessions are increasing and the count is going into my journal.  No more "practice without purpose" either.

Live fire, dry fire, 22, 32, 38, 45, air gun...  Every round should count if you are putting an emphasis on the fundamentals.

Looking back in my notes when I was shooting, the last ten years I was shooting, I shot 8,000 22, 15,000 45 wad and 5,000 ball per year match and practice. Some of the wad was reloads the rest factory. All ball was factory.
