A few months ago some one had posted a comment about Commercial 5 powder (CSB-5) sold by American Reloading.  At the time I was just about out of both Bullseye and Clays and was burning though my reserve pound of Unique.  As a result I'd purchased 8lbs of CSB-5 and it's worked out splendidly for me using 4.1gr behind a 185gr Zero HP.

Now it appears the same outfit is selling another powder in 8lb increments as:

Unlike CSB-5 I'm unable to find any information on this particular powder.  Has anyone heard of it or have any idea what it might be equivalent to?

Tell us more. Is it a very small ball powder? Does it meter well in your powder drop? Have you checked the velocity of your load? Is that Zero bullet you are using a swaged lead bullet or JHP?

CSB-5 is a large flake powder.  The flakes are about the same size/shape as clays with about the same light grey color.  It seems to meter quite well despite the large flakes and never sticks to the inside of the measure.

The bullet is the Zero swaged 185gr HP.  I've not had a chance to test at 50yds yet but both my wife and I have shot several matches at 25yds using it.

When it was available I paid around $214 shipped, including hazmat, for 8lbs.  Not the best price of the century but I've had no luck getting anything else.

The same company now sells primers (ginex?) as well which would make the hazmat fee less painful, although the primers appear to be packed loose in a bag by the thousand,  Shocked
