Optical sights Empty Optical sights

Do any of you use a reflex sight like the Burris Fast fire or Leopold Deltapoint sights.  I like the compact design but wondered how they would work for bulleye shooting.  I was thinking about one for my model 41

take care

These are just "red dot" sights without a tube. Optically, exactly the same principal.

Dear Troy:

I use a red dot because the tube style allows me to put sunshades on it when required.

The run and gunners like the open sights primarily for the less cluttered sight picture as they shift from target to target.

The c-more brand is probably the most widely used open sight.

I use a FFIII on my S&W M52, and two fellow shooters use the Ultradot L/T which is also a reflex style red dot. They work great.

I have two Burris Fast Fire III's 3moa, one on a CZ-97 .45 cal and one on a 9mm CZ P-09.  I used the one on the 9mm all last year, around 7k rounds, zero problems, zero zero shift.  Mounts on a dovetail mount, cycles with the slide.  I have two Ultradots on the 22's, both are excellent.

Thank you for all the replies I have always used iron sights and as I am over 50 now I think maybe a dot sight might be helpful.

If you get even 1 drop of rain on the window on the FastFire during rapid fire you are going to have a big problem.  For indoors and covered firing points, the fastfire is adequate.  It was my first red dot on the .45 and it was decent.
I use all 1" ultradots now.

Good point!  The Burris comes with a cover but the plastic see-through on each end of the cover are not good optically so I rarely use it.  If it's raining, you will be in trouble with any exposed sight.

Rob hints at one point that I would certainly agree with--first choice is a tube type Ultradot, second is a Burris or Leupold open type.

We have a covered shooting table at our local club matches and not much rain, so the open type is ok here most of the time.

Had not even thought about the rain issue, although truth be told I tend not to go to the range when it rains.

I'm using an Insight Reflex and so far I'm really happy with it. I did get a Bushnell but the weaver mount it comes with is nor correct. It's too wide. So I made a base to fit but found it had toooo much parallax! I called EOTech for information, they gave me the number for Insight. They too were very helpful and got me all the information I asked for including the amount of parallax at 25 and 50 yards. It was so small it wasn't anything to worry about (less than 1/64th of an inch and 50 yards) I purchased one and the first thing I did was put it on sandbags and moved my eye so the dot went to all extremes, No movement on the target!
However I haven't shot it in the rain yet! My Back-up has an ultra Dot on it. No parallax at 50! I found a way to adjust it out but not sure if it's possible on the newer models.
