Holosun Red Dot Sights

Post by Mikemanm on Fri Apr 03, 2015 1:52 pm

Does anyone have any experience with the new Holosun red dot sights that they can share?   They seem well made and are inexpensive.

The only person that I know who has tried them is Joe Chambers, and he said that it was a decent unit.

I bought 2 of them to try out. One is on my .22, the other on the slide of a wadcutter .45. The one on the .22 seems to be fine. I have only fired around 40 rounds with the one on the .45 so far, with no problems.

I will keep the list updated on how they hold up.

They look like they would be a very tall unit. With that much height there would be a lot more difference between 25 and 50 yd zeros. Just my opinion.

Not for me, don't trust "power's on with motion" it might go off right as your holding for that perfect shot. also not a fan of the tiny 2moa dot or the 40.00 more price of a ultradot 1'' model.

I looked at them when I heard/read "inexpensive". They seem to be pricier then Ultradot's and look a lot heavier. I also am not real fond of any scope that has a 1 screw mount. IMHO they probably won't replace UD's as the " go to"
dot.

All three of my guns wear 1" Ultradots.
It is what I have settled on to be all I need.
4 moa is good and when I want the dot on I turn it on.
When I want the dot off I turn it off.
I have forgotten to turn the dot off once but batteries are cheap.

I was playin around with one thus weekend,  primary arms advanced mini dot.

Worked well, about 60 rounds on a slide mounts 1911 did well on a rock river slide rib. Held zero on a Clark rib it would be better.

IT mounted a little forward on the 1911 with Rock river set up.

I have to take the rear iron sight off on my model 1941, after that it worked well.

Do moves more as compared to the ultra dot other than that it's really nice.

As I mentioned in another topic I have one on order, should be here any day. Few guys at my club have them, haven't heard any complaints yet. I like the 2 moa dot, doesn't seem to be very high unless you get the one for the AR. Checked parallax on one and it's almost none at 50 yards. Dot stays well within the X ring no matter where I move my eye. I'll know more after I give mine a test drive!
