Read the old thread found here:  https://www.bullseyeforum.net/t3550-quality-shooting-glasses?highlight=glasses

I'm looking for new reasonably priced set of shooting glasses, luckily I have great vision so no prescription needed.

I've been using the el-cheapos from Wal-Mart and they work well enough, but I notice some distortion.  I would like to get a nicer pair, but with the $$$ that's gone into Bullseye in the last year I need to keep things reasonable or I may find my box sitting on the doorstep when I get back from work.  Zenni seems reasonable in price, and Oakley has glasses for around $100.  Am I missing any other options?  The Rudy, Decot and Randolph are probably out of my price range in the near term.

The military price is pretty cheap and I've had Oakley clear lenses previously and in my view they had No distortion, but the thick ear pieces made putting the side shields on difficult.   I could always make them myself out milk jug plastic I guess.

Myself, I'd get Decot or Randolph. I'd avoid the wraparounds. Nice thing about the D and R lenses, there replaceable and interchangeable

look at the gargoyle safetys in clear, these have no distortion on the sides and can be bought with side shields. they go for about 60 bucks. you cant get a better clear than these imo.

Is there a reason to avoid wrap around glasses?

Not if you pay for high quality ones like Pilla.

Almost all but the high end ones have some degree of distortion. that's why I like the gargoyle

You can buy quality safety glasses from Wal-Mart or any other eye glass place. They sell the same glasses with no prescription.

just be aware, normal glasses, including safety glasses, tend to sit low on the nose and face causing you to shoot thru the top of the glasses. Most "shooting glasses" are designed to sit higher on the nose, or be adjustable, allowing for more adjustment to your shooting style.

Exactly, I didn't realize that. I also find the top of the glasses, which I'm trying to look through get greasy with sunblock, etc. in the heat.

I think the Gargoyles look pretty good

Here's a suggestion.

morgan optical

I get my shooting lenses from him for my Randolph Ranger frames.

I noticed they had some discontinued models available. might be some bargains to be had.

Good prices.  I like the adjustable width and nose piece on the Randolph.  Having a big bean that might be very handy.
