HP38 charge weight equivalent to Bullseye? Empty HP38 charge weight equivalent to Bullseye?

3.8 grains of Bullseye works well for me with 185 gr LSWCs.  What would be the equivalent charge weight using HP38?

HP38 being the same powder as WW231. 3.8 grains BE gives you 738 fps.
5.0 grains WW231 gives you 753 fps.

I don't know what the significance of this is but when trying my first loads of 4.2 grains of HP38 the fired .45 cases practically fell on top of each other on the ground as opposed to scattered about with the 3.8 gr. Bullseye loads.  Is that a sign of some consistency - ignition and velocity?  Is there some correlation between how consistent cases are ejected and accuracy?  I'll work up to the 5.0 grains of HP38 and see what happens.

its a sign of a weaker load than your bullseye, hp-38/w231 is a slower powder, takes a good bit more to achieve the same power factor. Your 4.2 might be accurate, only testing will tell.

I have an old 1911 Colt when I bench rest it will drop the spent cases in a pill bottle, it shoots a 5" group at 25yards on a good day.

I found that HP38/or W231 is a wonder powder. 5 to 5.2 is the load that worked well for me with 200gnswc or 185swc lead. Great long line load but a little snappy.

4.6 was very accurate and cycled well but filthy dirty worse than bullseye.

for a 38spl I heard 3.3 to 3.5 is the load.
