WTB Smith & Wesson 52-2

Post by Jwhelan939 on Sun Aug 30, 2015 3:38 pm

Hey all, I'm looking for a 52-2 for competition. I have been watching GunBroker, but I figured I would see if anyone in the group was looking to sell one first. Cash in hand for the right deal. I'm located outside of Philadelphia. Thank you.

I know this is a weird question but is there any chance that you are "wanna52" on Gunbroker?

I have one, A series.  Paid 1200$ for it a while back.  It's excellent condition.  Has box and 3 mags, two are metal followers.  No other accessories.  I could have Roddy check it over and mail it to your ffl

Len, I am not. I am Raiders2611rule.

Jack H, if you could, would  you email me some pics at Jwhelan939@aol.com? I'm really only looking for a series 2, but may be interested. Thank you.

Ok, I am bidding against "Wanna52" on GB on a 52. If it had been you I would have quit bidding. I probably don't need another target pistol (would never admit that to wife). It looks like a keeper if I get it. Laughing

And FWIW the A model Jack has could be a 52-2.

Yes it is an A series (serial number) 52-2.  Looks kinda newish.

Here's crude pix

I tried researching this, but not a whole lot out there. I thought an A series was an AMU 52-A? Aren't all 52-2 serial numbers prefixed with an A for autoloader?

There was a model 52 smith at Cabelas in Hamburg, PA last week.

Call there and ask for gun library.

It was under $1000.

They made the 52-2 for 23 years. Somewhere in there they went to a T prefix. (target?).

Jack,  did you get my email?

The serial number thing is very interesting. I was reading that S&W had some issues with duplicate numbers that forced the prefix in the first place. Not sure how true it is.

Knight, Thank you for the heads up. Maybe I'll have to run up to Cabellas this weekend. I'm only about an hour from there. Of course I'll pay twice in taxes what I would save in shipping!

Yes,  Just got home.  The 52-2 is 1200$.  That's  what I got in it and it is too soon to absorb depreciation ha ha.

What kind of trigger is on this 52-2 that you posted Len ??

Doesn't look stock and for sure doesn't look like the trigger on my 52-2. Maybe I'm wrong but doesn't it look like some kind of aftermarket or homemade trigger ?

It is a 52 no dash. They were DA/SA with the flip of a switch. I just won the auction. I wanted a no dash to be able to shoot production class.
