What pistol publication do you folks prefer for bullseye shooting and reloading information?   The ones I have seen thus far deal too much with combat and tactical issues.

I can't think of any periodicals that have anything related to BE in them on a regular basis. That's probably why most of us are here.

USA Shooting News is the periodical of USA Shooting (Click Here) the governing body for US Olympic shooting. It regularly has articles on shooting techniques.

Shooting Sports USA (Click Here) is published by the NRA, online only. It rarely has useful articles, but they are there occasionally. In recent years there have been 2 articles about the mental side of shooting, the most recent was Shooting is 90% Mental (Click Here).

I can't remember seeing a good article about bullseye or precision pistol technique in any of the commercial magazines.

A keeper by today's standards for sure but it can't hold a candle to what "The American Rifleman" was once upon a time! Actually, some of the best material they have printed in Shooting Sports is reprints of old Rifleman articles.

I am afraid that pretty much all of the current periodicals have been 'dumbed down' in an attempt to match the comprehension and attention span of today's 'readers'. If it isn't fast and loud they can't be bothered to read rather than watch U-tube. I do watch my share of that but mostly because there is so little left to read. I treasure a stack of old (50's) Rifleman I came across and a pile of back issues of "Precision Shooting" I bought before they went away. I try to ration myself because I don't know what I will read once I have gotten through them.

The times they are a changin'

Bruce. When you get through them you start over and learn the things you missed on the first reading.

I've bought several books, but I always migrate back to the Pistol Shooters Treasury.  Thanks to the great support of Rich Kang and John Hollingshead who gave them out at a clinic I have a copy.  I've read it many times and each time find something new.  Unlike Bruce I don't have a wicked collection of older periodicals, but I wish I did!

Don't forget to root through Mr. Ed Hall's great articles, I'm printing them and putting them with my other bullseye gouge.

I may be lucky if I remember reading them the first time! While not quite to the point that I can hide my own Easter Eggs, I have put a few things away for safe keeping and have no idea where they are.

I know the feeling.  I've put a lot of stuff away "Somewhere safe" and if I ever find that place I'll have a treasure trove of neat stuff.

Bruce, I do remember the American Rifleman growing up.  My father was a Colt .22 revolver bullseye shooter and was a member of the NRA in the late 40's to late 50's.  I remember browsing the magazine but was bored be all the words and no pictures.  I was more entertained by Stoeger's gun catalog and Field and Stream dreaming about the day I would hunt the Great Northwoods.   He kept all his issues but I'm not sure what happened to them....wish I had them today.  I do have his Springfield .22 Army training rifle...all 9 1/2 pounds of it.

For bullseye info, your plugged into the best resource out there right here on this forum, second only because its not being updated due to the owners passing is bullseye encyclopedia, there are no true dedicated monthly mags that cover our sport, some random articles in shooting sports from time to time. But for the best in bullseye, just stay tuned right here!!  We have members that are the top shooters and the top gun smiths that have no problem sharing their vast knowledge of the sport. Now if you want books that are out there to start a collection of great info on the sport, look for army marksmanship manual, gil hebards pistol shooters treasury, With winning in mind by lanny Bassham and alan fulfords dvd is great too, and im sure members can suggest others

Not just Bullseye... but "Handloader" is a pretty good mag on the subject of reloading.
