.45 accuracy ? Empty .45 accuracy ?

Post by Paper-Puncher 11/2/2011, 7:26 am

Well my new KImber target was not up to the task of even 50ft indoor stuff 3'' goups rested at that distance.....So discussed I call kimber and was told to return the gun to them ,which is in the works now......just waiting on the shipping label to arrive.......what size groups should I honestly expect from a gun with match barrel and bushing @ say 25yds.....?? This gun had some barrel fit issues but I am hopeing that when it returns Kimber will have made it right...but what should I expect accuracy wise realisticly from a gun such as that..?

You'd really want to see about 2" at 50 yards, with match ammo (10 shots) for a SERIOUS wad gun. So maybe 1" at 25 yds?

A Springfield range offer will shoot 1'' at 25yds, other than a kart barreled special built wad gun, you will not find anything off the shelf better that the RO.

The really sick this about it is.............I went to purchase a R.O.............Had it in my hand ...then I saw the kimber and the way everyone rants about them I thought I was doin good .......Now I'm just sick.......well I hope kimber does something with it.....their Tech Rep said that the gun didnt meet thier standards either ......I enclosed a target the I fired @ 50ft from sand bags 2.75 '' hopefully when it returns it will do 1- 1 1/4 @ 25yds ...I can live with that till I do a kart barrel..........right now I dont know if I should vomit or be pissed.......either way something is gonna change.......may even just trade it off ......and stick with .22's....I just shoot as a hobby on my own anyway.......I do post scores on a few forums but with my work scheudle leagues are out......

You will be lucky to get it to hold the 7 ring at 50 yards, Kimber once was a great gun, but years ago they dropped their standards and started using parts made in the Philippines."Cheap parts = more profit" Ive owned several and they are not even in the ballpark as a usa built Springfield. My son has a RO, the slide to frame fit is tight, the gun will shoot lead wadcutter bullets without modification if you use wilson combat mags, it wont feed them with the factory ones. Any body wanting to get started in BE could add even a cheap grip mounted scope mount and a dot and compete with confidence for a long time.
