Lee Pistol Machine Rest

Post by LenV on 11/7/2015, 9:52 am

Thought someone might be interested. These are a great alternative to a much more expensive system. I have no horse in this race.

Does the 1911 adapter slide into the magazine well or is better to make the homemade adapter?

I didn't think I could afford the rest this year, but this is a great option for me.

With you still in the Navy, go to the welding hobby shop and make an adapter! It's great to have access to that kind of free learning.

The benefit of an adapter like mine is you are testing your magazine at the same time.

I don't like my slide slamming home on an empty chamber either....

Did the MR's merge into the MM rating?  If not, I think you're better off cumshawing with an MR. lol!

I glad someone pointed out the correct rate
However it is comsha = comparison shopping - I seem to recall speaking to the division officer about such a thing once lol!

See http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/cumshaw

After thirty-eight glorious months as a DivO in CV67, I am quite familiar with the practice Smile

Perhaps,
but I can assure you that was not the definition when I was called into the R division office Aboard the USS Jason AR8 to speak with CWO2 Mason, to explain the very nice fitting Herculite Sailcloth cover for my Cannondale. As I recall there was another sailor from the sail shop in the office along with me explaining about the rather nice brass and monel snuff tin with engraving that came from the machine and engraving shops. affraid

You shouldn't have to hide this project in the shadows. Just like the auto hobby shop, there should be a metal and welding hobby shop. We also had a woodworking hobby shop on base.

Geez, I love 37 years in a pivate industrial machine shop...lol

the only way I've been able to use the Lee .45 adapter is to pull the extractor and single load. With Rob's method. You can load a magazine full at a time..

Bases used to have great hobby shops, thanks to budget cuts and XBOX they no longer live in their former glory or at all.  Auto hobby shops managed to survive, but often as service vice a place to rip your car apart and do heavy lifting.

That's too bad, Jayhawk. Maybe there is a welder, a grinder, and a drill press at the auto hobby shop.
That's all I used for mine.
