Pardini SP trigger reset Empty Pardini SP trigger reset

Post by jmdavis 1/12/2016, 8:53 am

This is a question for the Pardini shooters and gunsmiths.

Is it possible to get a positive trigger reset on the Pardini. My pistol is accurate, but I am irritated by the fact that it does not have a trigger reset that I can feel. I've looked online and found others with the issue. So my question is, "Is it possible to get the Pardini Trigger to reset in a way that is feel-able?" I'm not afraid to work on it, but I don't want to mess around if it's not even possible,

By feelable I mean that you can feel and/or hear the click of the reset. Right now I find that I need to virtually take my finger off the trigger to make sure that it resets. I feel nothing and I hear nothing. I have gone back to the Benelli with the MP90 trigger and found that my scores immediately increased.

Thoughts?

You are correct.. The reset is very light on Amira's.. I never noticed it in the years that I shot it... So, I can't offer a remedy with out tearing into the gun..

I understand Jerry. I need to get the new angle grip installed and see how it works at that point. The reset might be a non issue.

I had to shoot it tonight when I dropped one of my benelli mags on the concrete and the ejector broke off of it. My scores wound up 15 and 20 points lower. But the second relay was my highest score with the pardini on a 600. It was a mid expert level.

Are you getting situations where you fail to reset it and have to start the shot process over?

Don,

To insure reset, I wind up needing to take my finger off the trigger. If I do not move it far enough, it will not fire (since there is no reset). It's not the worst thing in the world. And the trigger itself is pretty darn nice. First stage is good and to my mind the second stage breaks clean.

What I have not done is thoroughly cleaned and then lubed the trigger and sear. Maybe that would help.

I really like this gun and I shot it exclusively from April through December and did pretty good (for me anyway).

I have never had an issue with my Pardini SP Bullseye.  All I can think of is possibly moving the trigger back...maybe you have the trigger so far ahead that when you have it on your finger's first joint you have too much tension on the trigger??

Using the first joint on the trigger is not bad. Making shoes I get request from a few High Masters that have high scores in that class for shoes that will work better using the first joint,
My thoughts on the reset is to keep shooting the gun after a while you will get accustomed to the trigger. Often the slightest movement can be detected. Too often what felt like a great trigger when first shooting with it seems to go bad in a short time, sometimes it does but too often it was there and as you get accustomed to it begin to feel it. That should be the same for the reset.

I never notice reset on any gun unless I am consciously looking for it.  Don't want any consciously things while performing the shot..... In fact I notice only that things are happening good in the (all too rare) sustained strings that please

Jack, the problem is that I am taking my finger off of the trigger to make sure that it resets. Perhaps I am wrong, but I don't think that is the best thing to do from an accuracy standpoint.

I shot the Pardini exclusively for 9 months and managed to accept what I was doing. Scores improved and were around 94%, but there were weird flyers on called shots in sustained fire. When I switched back to the Benelli (which I do not believe is as accurate, my X count went down but my scores went up in sustained fire. The differences are the MP90 trigger on the benelli with its reset and the benelli has a Rink Grip with upswept palm.

I finally sent off my order for a 1911 angle grip from Dick Horton this morning. Maybe that is a bigger part of the  issue since the Benelli has a less extreme grip than the Pardini.

You are correct, you do not want to remove finger from the trigger during a string of fire.

I may have found the solution in a video by Emil Milev. Right now I have no freeplay at all in the trigger, the first stage starts immediately. He pointed out the reset screw in the rear under the grip on the SP Bullseye. I will need to check and see if that is present on the Nygord era Pardinis.  I will let everyone know what I figure out.

Success, i think. By adjusting the sear engagement I was able to get a much better reset

Dryfire feels much better and I will do some live fire tomorrow night. The reset is still a little soft, but it is definitely there now. I also made an adjustment to trigger position after I had adjusted the reset.

The screw controlling the reset is CP, which is behind the grip. According to Emil's video, you should first turn PG counter clockwise to have free play, then adjust CP and once that is set check to make sure that you still have free play.
