Rink Grips for SW 41 Empty Rink Grips for SW 41

Post by Windlogik Fri Jan 15, 2016 6:49 am

I am thinking of getting Rink grips for my 41. I have large hands, and would like try the support offered by a European styled grip. I have gone through the rink order form, and everything is straight forward except for the volume. This is, essentially, the girth or bulkiness of the grip. My hands are not disproportionately long from what I can tell. However, I am unsure about whether I should get normal or thick. The SW trigger shoe is not adjustable forward or back, and I'd like to get it right. If someone can chime in with personal experience, that would be appreciated.

When you order a Rink they look at the shape of your fingers to tell if they are fat and will recommend one grip or the other. I know on the free pistols they also can recommend a degree of twist, if they think you might need it.  You should call Larrys Guns they stock some grips i think.... they ordered mine.  I think you can return a grip to Larrys if you are gonna exchange it for another size. Call them to make sure. http://www.larrysguns.com/

Also if you do pick the wrong one you can always add wood filler or bondo or take some off the thick if need be.

I have some experience in this area so maybe I can help.

My hands are quite large.  For my M41, I tried Randal Fung, Vitarbo and Rink all in X-Large. Each grip is excellent but never-the-less, fit differently.  My own hands are 100+mm across the palm measured at the widest point at the knuckles.  You'll need that measurement to choose the right Rink. My fingers however are quite long with an 11" finger span.  This made grip position for trigger finger placement problematic. I ended up preferring the Vitarbo. This choice was primarily because there was a particular contour that could align with a feature of my hand which made the grip consistent and repeatable.

When I bought Pardini's, I got Rink grips because the Pardini grips are not offered in X-Large.  For the SPBE, I added considerable thickness with epoxy wood putty to help give good contact through the heel of my hand and comfortable trigger finger orientation.  For the Rink grips on the GT45, which is a nice thick double-stack gun, I only had to remove some material from the palm rest to get my hand low enough to avoid "slide-bite".

So, three things...
It's going to be impossible to pick "best" without trying them because small features make a big difference.  Second, in the absence of holding a Rink, my advice would be to get the "thick" version.  Even with "thick", I added more.  Lastly, you should put Dick Horton on your potential grip provider.

Also, I sold the M41 but still have these "Sasquatch" grips for it.  If you want to make a proposal for how you could try them, send a PM.

I shoot a M41 Performance Center and also have some pretty large hands.  I went with the Nill Girffe X-Large grips and I love them!!!  Still have some room to play for the palm rest adjustment.   Might be another one to add to the "take a look at" pile.  Amazing grips!  Good luck with the search.
