Mounting Brass Catcher to a Strong Case Empty Mounting Brass Catcher to a Strong Case

Has anyone mounted the holding bracket to the exterior of a metal Strong Case brand bullseye box?
I have the box, and would like to mount a CMM brass catcher to the outside of it. Has anyone done this?
Glue, screw, or both? Advice welcome.

I so far have chosen not to do it but I have seen it done. They screwed them on to make sure they weren't going to come loose.

That's kind of what I figured. I'd rather not drill through the case if given a choice, but I guess it can be done cleanly if I'm careful. Maybe add superglue for reinforcement too. I'd like to attach the brass catcher to the box somehow so it's basically a "grab and go" setup.

Yeah, drilling the box has held me up. I love the convenience of the net on the box, but just can't get there yet.

The box as is is not heavy, even loaded up. I can't find the stated weight of the net & bracket, but I shouldn't think it would be all that much more. The alternative might be a small range cart setup, but that seems more a CMP thing and out of place on the BE firing line.

OK, that is semi-sorta-heavy when tacked on to the weight of a metal case+guns+ammo+sundry doodads.

I use this one for informal range shooting and it works great for me. I guess it wouldn't be practical for bullseye competition.

I have mine mine mounted. First I had the 3 gun box with the drawer attached on the bottom and the brass catcher on the back. That was too heavy and I realized I didn't need everything I was carrying on the line. I sold that and bought the same box again, without the drawer, and mounted the brass catcher. Added a duffle bag for ammo, spare parts, basic tools, and anything else that didn't need to actually be on the bench.

I'm not a big guy, the weight is fine and I like the efficiency of it. I recommend it. I did not like the threaded stud sticking out the back so I bought a threaded knob from Amazon to protect the stud and the legs of people walking by.

Hope this helps.

That does help. Thanks!
I ve read others also saying the drawer attachment invites way too much weight to carry around.
I'm 6'5 and strong, but turned 50 this year so I expect things to start getting heavier. Planning ahead!

I considered the drawer but realize the more space you have, the more stuff you carry. I can get everything i need most of the time in the 1608 and when I need more, I carry a soft range bag as an assist.

This is the knob I put on the stud. The thread is 5/16-18.

The add on drawer is a must for me. My 25-2 with 30mm dot does not fit very well in the slots above. Great place for the Reeves gun but with 4 pistols and ammo I always figured the bracket would be a bit much.

I find with 3 guns plus ammo my 4 gun box is heavier than I want to carry. When shooting rifle I built a DIY range cart, modeled after the Creedmoor range cart.  It works great for transporting my 4 gun box plus it's a nice chair, it's not out of place at a bullseye match.

I put the base inside the box and strap the rest to the box with bungies.

Thanks for the advice, guys. Despite the weight penalty I decided to go ahead and do it so I can have a single "grab and go" pistol range kit.
I just now ordered the CMM Brass Catcher and mounting bracket.
I'm tall, so I got the one with the 20" stem.
