Dry fire and holding drills are not fun Empty Dry fire and holding drills are not fun

I am a new to bullseye. I became disabled 8 years ago and just resolved that that's just the way my life was gonna be. I recently started reading up on bullseye. I have a Ruger 22-45 and started trying my hand at 25 yards. And boy did I suck!  Still determined, I read more about training and exercises to train up my muscles. Part of my injury was my right arm and it is much weaker than my left. So I had (still have) some serious work to do. I have been dilligently working on strength and dry firing and doing holding drills. Because my hold was shaking like a dog pooping peach seeds. And it is all starting to work!!!!  I am now actually seeing improvement!!!!  Not as much fun as shooting live and breathing the sweet smell of burnt  powder, but darned if it doesn't work.
I'm pretty stuborn and refuse to give up!  So now I practice a lot and shoot a little.  I can't find any matches or leagues near where I live in Idaho so I'm not sure I will ever be able to actually participate.
But I can see the personal challenge of bullseye. It's just me against myself.
Its very similar to golf, which I used to play. I was pretty bad but I kept trying. So now, it's bullseye for me.
As a side note..........
When I was stationed at Barksdale AFB, Louisiana, I was not far from Jerry Miculek and Clark Custom Guns. While there I bought a Clark Ruger Mk I and  Clark S&W model 41 (both used) right out of Clarks storefront.
But for right now, I practice with my 22-45 because I can dry fire it.
Thats it for now. I just wanted to share how I got started in bullseye.
I will keep you posted on my progress. Like when I can put 10 shots inside the scoring rings!!!
All the best
Doug

Your going to find that dry firing is one of the most important aspects of excelling in BE. I love dry firing because I can break it down to each fundamental and actually Master it. I shoot once a month if I'm lucky, but I dry fire regularly. I always shoot at Master level with little to no live fire between matches. I encourage you to look at it with great value and in time you might love it too.

I tend to dry fire as long as  I am remaining focused.  Some times it's only a few shoots . I don't find it beneficial for me to set a time.

I dry fire every day and combine it with holding drills.  It is often windy here on the high desert so outdoor shooting, at least at my level, is pretty much a waste of ammunition.
But, I can track and observe my progress with dry fire and holding drills.  Now, if someone would just invent an air freshener that smell just like burnt powder.
Ed, thank you for the snap cap idea.  Thats pretty cool.
And thank you to all!

Wow!  That looks pretty slick.  But a little over my head on retirement income.

I may need to be corrected in this, but I do not consider Beamhit to be anything like Scatt.  As far as I have seen, Beamhit merely tells where the shots have electronically landed, whereas Scatt tells the story from before the shot to after the shot, of what happened with the motion of the muzzle.  Other brands of similar trainers to the Scatt are Noptel and Rika.  I have the Rika and have used a Noptel lots of years ago.  I also "played" a bit with an early Beamhit.  They all may produce electronic feedback from a dry fire shot, but the detail of that feedback is far more involved with the Rika, Scatt and Noptel.

Let me know if Beamhit indeed has a system that now includes the detail of the others and I will research it and report back
