Anybody casting their own 45's?

Yes.  I suspect many of us do.

I started casting for the 45 with a Lee two cavity HG 68 type mold. It's a great little mold to get started with. Very inexpensive and drops
great bullets about 196 gr. from range scrap. 

Later I went to a four cavity Noe 200 gr HG 68 type mold. Beautiful tool and easy to use. Drops bullets at 215 gr. from range scrap. 

My current favorite is a Noe 200 gr. HG 130 type that I borrowed from Chip. I'm hoping he forgets who he loaned it to.

A lot of satisfaction can be had from casting your own bullets.

I cast my own 45's with range scrap using a 6 cavity Lee 200 SWC mold. Works great. I also powdercoat mine too.

I cast a lot of round ball for muzzleloading so I have a lot of soft lead. I don't suppose that will work in conventional projectiles...?

Soft lead?  Not usually.  A good mis is 92 pct lead 2 pct tin and 6 pct antimony.  Makes good hard bullets that cas well.  It is usually referred to a 50-50 Lino/lead.

Isn't that wheelweights and linotype?

I've been casting my own for about 12 years now.  I got frustrated with all the dinged up bases from shipping.  H&G 68's, H&G 130's, H&G 78's, Lyman 460's.

Pretty much use straight range scrap with 20% linotype thrown in the mix to add a little tin to the mix.  Lot of our range lead is 22's, hence the additional tin.

I cast WW with a bit of 50/50 solder mixed in to bring it up to approx. the old lyman #2
