I had a FAS6004 last year, some things I liked and some I didn't like about it. A guy offered to by it and I sold it for a fair price.

I'm making the move to red dot sights on all my bullseye guns which are all 1911's. I'd love to have a 1911 pellet pistol with a red dot as well but seems like all the 1911 air pistols are too hobby grade. I was thinking of getting a Steyr at some point so it's safe to say I'm not afraid to spend some money for quality but I don't know if there is a quality 1911 air pistol out there, after all most people wanting a nice air pistol are shooting 10m matches not practicing for bullseye.

The Weihrauch HW-45 may be what you're looking for.  It's very high quality excellent trigger and you can mount a scope athough finding the rings for the odd metric dovetail can be a challenge.

The Beeman P1 is the same gun but I don't know if it is sold as such any longer.

You can get a 1911 grip on the Steyr LP50.  That one lets you practice timed and rapid with the included 5 pellet magazine.

I'll check out the HW45, thanks for the suggestion.

Regarding the 1911 grips for the LP50 I'm not entirely sure I see the advantage to timed and rapid fire with a pellet pistol. To me the challenge of timed and rapid fire is dealing with the recoil, getting back on target and pulling the next shot, if there is no recoil the challenge is far less.

Master sustained fire with no recoil, and you are well on the path to mastering it with recoil.

Even with a single shot it has value in shooting the turn.

I tried a Beeman P-1. I put time and money into it but just never could love it. No personality. The closet thing to my Hammerli that shoots well is the FAS 6004. For a 1911 there really is not one so I do all my practice at home with the FAS.

For airsoft there is nothing. A few 1911 replica types have very nice triggers, blowback, etc. but no accuracy except at very close ranges.

The price is right on these (and they are in production again). Trigger like a 1911 (heavy) but fun and accurate.
