Most recommend the Springfield Range Officer . The price on them has been steadily creeping upwards . I recently shot a few rounds out of a Magnum Research DE 1911G . Seemed to be decently fitted for a gun in its price range & accuracy albeit @ 25yds was pretty good . They're available for $ 650- 685 . Add a EGW angle bore bushing & oversize slide stop , clean up sear / hammer engagement & it too might be a viable alternative if a Range Officer wasn't able to be had . Does anyone have any experience with these ? They do have an ugly rollmark on slide , but if ones on a budget........... . Just wondered if they were worth the effort or not .

First let me say I know nothing about the DE 1911G. However some of the things you mention to improve the out of the box accuracy will add to the cost of the gun and may do very little to improve anything. A larger slide stop pin might not fit into the hole provided and if it did cause the gun not to work at all. Furthermore it might create an issue called riding the link that will lower accuracy!
Adding components will add cost especially if you have a smith install the items yet you still have the basic gun that will not be worth what you totally paid if you decide to sell it so as to up-grade later.
Training with a inaccurate gun is a waste of time, you would be better off saving your bucks and getting something that will preform. Furthermore having a better gun as a base will allow you to get future work either by yourself or a smith that will improve accuracy and if you get to the point of upgrading to a super tack driver the value of something like an enhanced Range Officer will be increased and therefore reduce the cost of the super tack driver if you want to sell it.

First the Ro comes with adjustable sights and a accurate NM  barrel, to add one to a gun without one will run around 4-5 hundred bucks part and labor, also adjustable sights another 200.00 P&L to get if you want them. So imo leave anything that doesn't have a national match barrel alone unless its for defense, Colt now has a alternative to Springfield's RO, check out colt competition, it has both adj sights and NM barrel , msrp is 949.00 but ive seen them for 795.00 also you can buy RO's on gunbroker for as little as 700.00 if you watch for them.  It has a fiber optic front sight but when asked the CMP said it can be used in a CMP/EIC match if blacked out.

I've done a couple with a modified RRA slide mount that lets you keep your iron sights, if that might be something you're interested in.

Add all those things after you buy the pistol and you'll have the same money in it as a Range Officer.  And it will never have the same resale value.  You can't do this on the cheap and fix this or that...  Buy the best equipment that you can afford that is ready to go.

My RO9 is accurate, reliable and a pure pleasure to shoot.  If you can afford it, it's perhaps close to or the best deal on the 1911 market.

The thing I like about this plan is that it doesn't all have to be done at once. I got my first range officer, shot it for a couple years, and then had swapped out the barrel, redid the trigger and added the rail. Great gun out of the box, even better once the changes are made.
