2 kinds of Colt .38 wadcutter mags?

Is one of these modified, or are there different versions? It seems like the split feed lip is more tunable. Shooting the Colt today hopefully

version one( top) verses two.. Two being the split type...

One is the original style from colt

Use caution when "tuning" the magazine lips. They are spring steel and will crack without notice.

No need to ask me how I know....

The split type does two things. Rear portion is like a feedramp for the case rim. The front portion is the tension that keeps cartridge in the magazine.
The mag without split does both.

at today's prices for one of these........ OUCH

One with split works great. Thanks to my High Standard I'm getting proficient with one good magazine.....

If someone has one of these magazines please let me know if it has a spring guide that is about 3/4" long with ball end at the top with a slot/groove machined into it? Want to know if it is true Colt or Triple K type guide.
