I've seen wadguns built with standard guide rods, and a full length(1 or 2 piece)

i imagine the double recoil system (2 springs) is made more for the tacticool guys.  A properly fitted barrel will recoil softly and go back into battery with a proper spring, pending on ignition parts and spring used.

Double recoil systems such as the sprinco, or variable power springs are great for taming full-power loads, but in my opinion they are a waste of time with reduced wad loads. Recoil can be softened up so much with reduced lead loads and a properly fitted barrel that there's really no need. If everything you shoot is hot (800+ fps) then go for it.

I put one of these full length guide rods in my RO's. They work great and you don't have to have tools to take pistol down.
