anybody use Fed. AM22? Empty anybody use Fed. AM22?

I could not find any past mention of Federal AM22. It's lead but a little higher velocity than SV. Might be useful in a troublesome 22 conversion? It should hold ten ring at 25 yards for practice.

It's on sale a PSA for 24.99 for 325 rounds, free shipping.

From what I have seen it is very hit and miss with quality.  When I started shooting indoor league about six years ago I was looking for a lower cost round for indoor use.  A friend gave me 100 Auto Match to try.  My 41 functioned it fine and I got along with the feel so I ordered a case.  I think the first time I shot the new ammo was at a sectional and my slowfire was off and not going to call.  I came back the next day and benched it with the AM and it would barely hold 8 ring at 50'.  I sold the rest.

My 13 year old daughter shoots with me and I bought her a Ruger 22/45 light.  Being a new shooter and at the time just turned 12 year old girl she didn't have the grip strength to make standard velocity ammo function.  This was when ammo was hard to find and I was having her shoot CCI AR Tactical and Auto Match.  Both are 1200fps rounds and the little extra oomph helped with functioning.  To start the outdoor season this year I tested her gun over bags at 50yds with the Auto Match.  Again it held 8 ring.  Her and I had a talk about grip and she said she could definately tell her strength was improving so I had her shoot some CCI SV.  It functioned flawlessly (until last weekend when the stupid loaded chamber indicator got gunked up and caused havok).  So back outdoor on the bench I went with CCI SV.  9 of 10 held 3/4 of the x ring with one out of the group by about an inch.  Still in the 10 ring.  No more Auto Match for me.

There is a guy in central Illinois that runs a junior program.  Typically has 15 or more juniors at a time.  He swears by it and buys it by the pallet.  Not for me though.

anybody use Fed. AM22? Empty AutoMatch

Post by Russ OR Thu Oct 20, 2016 9:49 pm

I've had AutoMatch that was .002"-.003" undersized bullet diameter. Shot really bad.
I've also had/have now AutoMatch that is normal bullet diameter. Shoots well-I like it-my Buckmark likes it.

Juniors shoot them okay in rifle, but the shorter pistol barrels have not grouped them good at all for me.

I used to use it when it was $14 at Walmart......so maybe 4 years ago was last time. Shot 100-8x at 50 yds with it. Ransomed 9/16" @ 50 yds. Have friends that had bad performance with it. So I used to love it.
