Post by Chris Miceli on Fri Oct 28, 2016 7:17 am

just found this, looks like an online postal match. Has a precision 22 category along with a free pistol and air pistol.

I've never shot a postal match before. I'm in. Thanks for the link!

I signed on for .22 and 10m air pistol.  Probably going to get my butt handed to me in both.  Don't care.  New kids gotta start somewhere.

You never shot anything closer than 25 yards? Smile

The regular crowd I shoot with does shoot a mixed gun round with centerfire with iron sights at 50 ft. or you can shoot .22 red dot at 25 yd.  We all shoot the same 25yd targets.  This is an odd matchup, but kinda works because the .22 guys shoot two-handed.  It is just an odd, locals range thing they do in addition to a regular .22 match.

Will be my first time shooting 50ft NRA bullseye targets, they just showed up in the mail. Tiny little boogers

Chris, you will do fine. They look smaller up close than when you are shooting them. Of the two Winter Leagues I shoot, one is a 50' and the other is 25 yards. I do tend to shoot better at 25 yards, but 50' is not much different.

I posted on the TargetTalk thread to ask the match director about using "standard" 25yd and 50yd targets vs. 50 ft.  There is already some discussion of alternative targets, so why not ask about Bullseye targets?

I would like to be able to use my 25-yard league .22 scores and the targets that are on hand at my shooting range if possible.

NetCompetitor wrote:Hi Will,

Thanks for sharing on the Bullseye Forum!

You bring up a very good point! It should be allowed, just like we are doing with free pistol. We don't want to be exclusive. We are taking in all this feedback so it's good to hear all of this information. We plan to run matches on a regular basis and improve what we are doing, which would include the option of grouping shooters by distance if there are enough participants to make that possible

This is NetCompetitor's (the match director) reply from the targettalk.com forum to my question about targets.  So it looks like you can shoot whichever targets the NRA Pistol rulebook allows.  Nice!

These were the specific targets I referenced and directed him to the NRA Pistol rulebook page 19

B2 and B3 for 50 ft
B-16 and B-8 for 25-yard
B-6 for 50-yard slow fire

-Update- After some thought, I wanted to add this quote from further up the targettalk.com thread when another competitor asked about ISSF targets.

NetCompetitor wrote:Hi imac, as long as the targets follow ISSF rules they'll work.
