I replaced a few parts on my RO and a Taurus PT1911 to the Harrison forged steel parts, some small fitting required but the parts are excellent quality.

They are the best and the trigger is great and eliminates the problem of a shifting over travel nut.

harrison design triggers Empty Harrison thumb safeties?

Post by Dipnet 10/29/2016, 12:04 am

Has anybody ever installed a Harrison thumb safety on their 1911? I like its design, especially the lower thumb 'shelf,' but was wondering if extensive filing was needed? Thanks, dipnet

Thumb safeties always have to be fitted.  They are oversize so they can be made to fit any gun.

Dipnet: replaced 3 safeties on my bullseye pistols with the one you mentioned. All required a bit of work in filing and then stoning to fit, found plenty of information on fitting of safeties with pictures on Google so fitted all 3 without any major issues or ruining of parts. The lower shelf and being a forged part appealed to me as well.

John Harrison is a custom gunsmith with his own line of 1911 products. Quality is about the same as all others; 80 +% of all 1911 parts made by same manufacturer with different labels.

So Harrison is just another brand name of the same old same old??

The original reference to "design" could be misleading.

The overtravel screw is set in the back of the trigger and it has a smooth trigger surface(where your finger goes) the one I had installed was filed to fit.
