Salyer Wad Gun for Sale

Post by messenger on Sat Apr 01, 2017 2:50 pm

I have a Dave Salyer built Springfield 45 for sale. Tight and very accurate. It is sprung for an Aimpoint Micro (12lb spring). I shot my best all time slow fire, 96/4X, with this gun. It has a really sweet short roll trigger. It comes with everything pictured ans the original green Springfield hard case and one stainless mag. Price is $950.00 shipped to anywhere in the US that doesn't require additional paperwork. My FFL to your FFL.

Darn good price for anyone looking for their first wad gun or anyone looking for a back up. Considering the price of a new RO.... wish I had the coin.

Yeah, If I had asked another $100 maybe it would have lasted a little longer. LOL. I got it from Dave 6-7 years ago. I figure I put 10,000 rounds through it. I didn't loose. I broke even. It's going to a good home. It really shoots well. Now I'm down to three wad guns. A Rock River, Les Baer, and I just took delivery of a custom built Night Hawk. I think I can get through this. It will be tough but I'll try my best.

I have to put some rounds through the Night Hawk before I develop a load for it but the Rock River is more accurate than the Les Baer. The Baer is a 1.22" inch gun. You wouldn't believe me if I told you what the Rock River is.

I've seen 7/8" pistols. Also in the 1970's some old timers I know (they were young 2600 plus shooters then) were getting sub 1 inch groups. I believe some guns now will do it if enough ammo was Rested through them: random testing Smile

I bought it off of Gun Broker for $1550 a couple years ago. It was a flyer machine. A friend took it to Perry and let Rock River work on it. Still didn't shoot worth beans. Gave it to Dave Salyer and he said it was wore out. He had never seen a gun with that many rounds through it. I was pretty bummed when I got that news. He said he would do his best but it would take a lot. I told him to go for it. I saw him at the Charlotte match a couple months later. He just smiled. I ransomed about 30 different combinations. I came up with 8.5gr AA#5, Nosler 185 JHP, 1.22 COL, WLP primer, Starline Brass, .469 crimp. My Les Baer shot ok with this load but shot better with 4.8gr WST and 1.23 COL. Everything else was the same spec. I have never had two guns like the same load.

If you call up Nosler they will tell you that AA is the most accurate powder with their bullets.

Dan,

Thanks for the quick payment. I hope you enjoy the wad gun as much as I have. It has been a pleasure doing business with you.

I've seen a brand new RR shoot a one hole group at 50 yards, so yes I believe you. This same gun needed no "break-in". No, the gun isn't mine.
