In my quest to raise the trigger pull weight from 1lb 13oz to 2lb 8oz I have now a new triggerbar spring and a new sear spring.  After a fulstrating fight to get it all back together I now have 1lb 2oz.  Lost 11 ounces some where but the gun works.  I will but the new sear and hammer in next as they are easy to change.  Man am I missing something here.  Never expected to loose 11ozs figured maybe I might see no improvement or not enough.  Don

Finished.  New sear and hammer brought me back to 1lb 13oz so I put the bent sear spring back in and got 2lb 2oz.  Then the new mainspring.  2lb 8oz.  I would have liked to have seen that be 10oz to have a little lead way.  I need to get a NRA weight set from Brownell's to check it.  Not a real problem if I go to a match and it doesn't pass I can use my 45 for CF.  I assume they check before the match not after?  Don

Good for you Don;

I like stories with happy endings  Smile

Only pistols I have ever had weighed were for the distinguished revolver and service pistol, which are mandatory as far as I know.
As far as bullseye .22, CF and .45 it is up to the club I guess.
Mine have never been checked at a match.
Maybe if you won a championship they may.

Glad you have it back together and now go out and shoot that thing like it was designed for.

Clarence thanks for the support.  I had to get innovative to get the Disconnect in.  Instructions say on a M59 to turn it sideways then drop it in and rotate it under the trigger bar.  That was not happening so I unpinned the trigger and disconnected it from the trigger bar, and pulled the bar back dropped the disconnect in.  Pushed the bar forward and wedged a wedge of foam it to hold it all in place.  rehooked up the trigger and all was well.  The rest is easy.  Don't understand why with stock parts the pull weight is so low but at this point I don't care.  I installed the Leupold grip mount rail on and a Altmount Rosewood slab on the left side and mounted a Matchdot II.  Ready to shoot.  The Mag I got off EBay was S&W new still in a unopened pack and not a mark on it.  I am now a happy camper.  Don

They used to randomly spot check trigger weights on the line at Perry. I don't know if they still do. I've seen a few DQ's because of light triggers there. I have been spot checked more than once at Perry. Other than EIC matches, at all other matches, I've never seen triggers checked for weight. I like to keep my triggers 1/4 pound over minimum. As they tend to lighten over time, it keeps everything consistent, as well as, legal.

Let me know how that new hammer and sear work for you.

  I did that to mine ( new hammer and sear) and got hammer follow so I sent it off to a pro to set the correct angles on the hammer and sear.

Yes I would like 4 extra ounces myself but don't think I will get them out of this gun.  I don't think I will every get to Perry and if I did they would worry about trigger weight when they seen my scores.  I guess I am getting old I hate to drive 14 miles to our outdoor range.  Don

It is stock and never used so I would think it would be ok but then you never know.  I wouldn't mind sending a whole gun off to a smith I just didn't feel right about sending a frame and a box full of parts and asking if he could put my failure back together.   Don
