Thanks to both of you.  The gun is newer then I though it was and that is fine by me.  Puts it right in there with the 52-2 I bought.

I am going to need some info on Moon clips as in what to get and what tools I need.  I have never used them before.  The gun I am biding on don't appear to have any with it so if I win the bid Monday I would like to get the stuff so I have it when the gun arrives.  if I don't get this gun i will be bidding on another one.  Don

Consider auto-rim cases.  I use them all the time.

Autorim is a good idea but I own 5 1911s and load thousands of rounds for them.  My hope was to use my standard 45 ACP BE loads.  Don

You can.  Just get good moon clips and a demooning tool.  Makes life much easier.

Do you need the tool to load the clips?  I think I can make one.  I suspect that you would want enough clips loaded before a match so you didn't need to do it between strings.  I probably will not shoot the gun in ant matches as where I shoot only has one 1 or two 2700 and 10 1800s a year.  Plus the club shoot once a month at the Sl and VSL (15yds) and I would miss not using my 1911.  The only DR Match is during the Florida State and the Dixie Match.  Don

I don't think the 25 will qualify as DR seems to specify a 38.  As for loading, a tool is not needed but it makes it easier.  An unloading tool really helps.  Your right in having your ammo pre clipped.

I would not get enough DR matches anyway.  Maybe one a year and I am 70 now.  I reall think this will just be a fun gun something else to learn to shoot.  Don
