Well it went better then the first but it didn't go well.  The Nelson decided that it was going to go click no bang and not even putting a mark on the rim of the case.  Thumb cock the hammer and click maybe a bang.  One time took 5 recocks. Now this was not real problem in SF but was a challenge in TF.  I did have a target with onlt 6 shots for a 52 score  as I never got the last four fired and didn't want a reshoot.   By RF it was functioning ok.

CF the first round would only chamber 2/3 of the way in the Les Baer.  Couldn't even force the slide ahead and had to lock the slide back to drop the mag by that time the round had fell all the way in and had to be pushed out of the chamber.  This proved to be a real problem in TF and RF.  I left a target unshot in TF for a zero as the way the gun was working I didn't want to stand up there by myself and try to get it shot.  I even had a jam in RF cleared it and got off 5 shots before the target turned.

all this adds to the stress and I think I might score better if I had no gun problems.  Got to iron this out before the 1800 in two weeks.  Don

In bullseye you need 100% reliable equipment. I'll take that primary over accuracy. But I want both

Totally agree. It sounds like you have some issues to work out before your next match. Bullseye shooters are among the most helpful around. Maybe get some input from other shooters at the matches? Also alibis are no fun but they happen. Even with 100% equipment. Crossfires are not infrequent so you might want to get used to 5 shots with an audience:)

Chris I agree with that but I have good equipment I think and I shoot it at least 3 times a week with out a problem.  It just doesn't like matches.  Don

I should have taken the alibis several times as 6 shots sure hurts ones score but not as bad and the total zero I took.  This club match is just for fun so it really didn't matter much.  The way the gun was acting I wouldn't have completed the re shoots anyway.  The other shooters were nice and told me to do the re shoots but at that point I just wanted to get the day over.  Don

Just a thought.... if you are running these guns three times a week are you cleaning and oiling them thoroughly ?
I started experiencing hit or miss problems like you explain in your OP. I field stripped both, gave them a bath and some fresh synthetic. Today's 2700 went off with NO misfires.

My friend you hit the nail on the head.  I just field stripped the LB and man was she dirty.  This BE might make good loads but it sure is dirty.  I miss using CFE Pistol.  The rounds that were not going anymore then 2/3 into the chamber dropped right into and out of the dirty chamber so I believe the slide was just gummed up.  I haven't put it back together yet as there is some leading in the barrel and I am waiting on the cleaner for that.  I will now clean and shoot the guns a day before all matches.  You would think they would act up the 5 days a week I practice but no only when it counts.

I suspected problems with the Nelson as I believe it was LenV that said Saturday when shooting CCI SV he uses the light recoil spring and the heavy firing pin spring.  I said thanks I am running the springs it came with and have to shoot it tomorrow at a match.  I have shot a bunch of CCI SV in it so just left it be as it was late and I had to get up early.  I think I was hexed.  Don

I like full length guiderods because I can remove the slide without messing with the bushing wipe and relube the rails and up and running in no time. My wad gun hasn't had an alibi in 18 months.

Clean the breach face and barrel face of the Nelson.  Bullseye is accurate but dirty.

DIRTY GUNS.  Chris named the two spots and man they were bad.  I didn't take the slide off but got them cleaned and shot it today.  With out changing the springs the CCI SV did fine.

I should have known Sunday as I noticed the slide was moving forward slowly when I sling shot the first round in.  When it gets that way it is also harder to pull the slide back.  I guess with how tight this LB is I am going to had to clean often.  What about this spray they have now is it any good?  Should I carry a can of it ti the matches?

The LB didn't get shot today after cleaning and oiling as there is still lead streaks in the barrel.  At least I think that is what they are.  I did buy a  pure copper Chore Boy today but want to try the carb cleaner that was recommended first.  If it and the ultra sonic cleared don't remove it I will use the Chore Boy.  Don

Well I think this Berryman stuff I got is the wrong stuff.  I thought it was going to be brake and parts cleaner but it is Fuel system cleaner.  Guess I will run a swab with the Chore Boy and order Kroil and Lewis lead remover.  Don

I am only using Zero HPWCs amd Zero JHPs.  After running some Chore Boy down the barrel i have come to the conclusion that it wasn't lead after all I just kept cleaning with Hoppe's #9 and these bore swabs till they came out clean.  Looks like a mirror now.  I ran some dummy rounds through the gun after finishing the rest of the cleaning and lube and the slide ran great no more slow motion going into battery.

This match was a good lesson.  I will bring clean tested guns from now on.  I been taking a lackadaisical approach to gun cleaning for 56 years but guess I better work a little harder at it now.  Don

I would get 30 rounds through a cleaned gun before the match

Chris kind of what I was thinking.  Clean it Thursday night and shoot it on Friday as I don't shoot Saturdays. Then they should run fine for the Sunday match. Don
