Anyone come up with a way to mount an aimpoint micro on a .22 grooved receiver? It needs to be as low as possible so a PMTOWL type won't work.

I called KC and Pardini and the Pardini folks said their grooves are spaced differently from the .22 spacing so the Kodiak won't work.

A few tips if you are going to use the Aimpoint 11mm mount.

A lot of people have reported having problems removing the screws that hold the mount on to an Aimpoint H-1 due to red threadlock compound on steel screws in aluminum threads. I used a 25 or 35 watt pencil soldering iron with a chisel tip to apply heat to the screws. I kept my thumb on the sight body next to the screw to check for heat flow (I didn't want to heat up the sight as it seemed like a bad idea to this dumb mechanic) and heated each screw for about 30 to 60 seconds before trying to loosen the screws. After moving the Micro to the new mount I used blue Loctite on the four mount screws.

The sight has to come off the X-esse for removing the slide for cleaning. I found that about a 1/4 inch flex of the Aimpoint tool gave me a consistent torque. I also practiced a few times with a tiny torque wrench. (I am lazy and do not like to worry)

My use in practice was fine, but I think the sight migrated forward about 1/8 inch in competition since there are not any cross slots to anchor on like a Weaver or Picatinny rail. This is a common complaint I ran across while researching the Aimpoint 11mm mount, usually from 22 rifle installations. I took a base size strip of skateboard tape and put the adhesive side on top of Hammerli barrel so the grit made contact on the bottom of the mount. That way wear would be on the least expensive component (the mount). No movement was noticed in the next competition.

Good luck. I may not have Brian Zins' pistols but I sure enjoy using the same sights as he uses.
