100 yard 1911 - 1.6" Group

It is an Accuracy X 1911 Long Slide in 9mm shooting a 1.6" group at 100 yards.  

Notice the group is wider than it is tall.  Did you see the leaves on the trees moving as he shot the group?

The caliber lends itself to being a very accurate round. Not taking anything away from Steve

Agree that the 9mm is accurate pistol cartridge.  That alone doesn't produce a group that small at 100 yards.   Heck, would a 9mm shoot any better in a bolt action rifle? 

I like that Steve Huff shares the results via online videos.  Not only are they entertaining, great marketing for the maker, they show results are hard to diminish.

Until the NRA sanctions 100 yard Precision Pistol matches, I think I'll stick with my already-paid-for .45

I think it's an excellent example of their products.

Sorry for being dense, but how do we know it is 9mm? I did not hear him say the caliber and I could not tell by the size of the holes in the paper.

I've never seen anything so impressive. I was surprised that he used the Ransom "trigger tripper". Most folks I know, when using the RR, pull the trigger with their trigger finger. On another note, that is about the height of my target the last time I went to Perry!

The group shot was great for a 9mm Parabellum but would have been amazing if it were a .45 ACP!

Then there is the fact that AXI had the gun used in the video on display at Camp Perry.  I picked up that gun more than once.  It had a 9mm bore.  

The question is why don't the larger manufactures of premium 1911's who guarantee group size produce videos as evidence?  Heck, every Tom, Dick, and Harry produces videos and posts them on YouTube and now Facebook.

Oh good!  I've got a new goal to shoot for.  I can't wait to get to the range to start .    Seriously, I hate to use the overused awesome but that's what it is if it's authentic.

Sorry, I guess I need my hearing checked.  I heard Steve say X Series but not 9mm in the video.  So thanks for letting us know the caliber.

Oops, you are correct.  The caliber of the top of the line X Series gun was not mentioned.  It is definitely a 9mm long slide 1911.  Now you have me thinking of how accurate a similar gun in .45 would be at 100 yards?

I would also like to know how much an X Series costs (just curious).  He has prices for the Pro (2995 - 3198) and Pro Plus (3995) on his web site, but I did not see a price for the X Series.

I spoke to them at CP, The X-series is in the low $5k's, I just don't remember if that includes their multi-sight system or not.

$5K that maybe be what I need to reach Master by the end of the year.  For that price the gun should shoot its self.  Don

I have both ball and wad AXI guns in the Pro Plus model.  They both shoot much better than I do.  With either when I call shots in the X Ring, they are.

You will need 100 (and 200!) yard accuracy for the upcoming RJ Thomas match. Are you prepared?

Is this for real John? Does he shoot any of the Matches out ther any more?

It is for real. I do not know whether PO Thomas is still around, but there is a match in his honor, and we shoot 1911s at 100 and 200 yards.

It's next weekend. C'mon out to California and join us.

He retired as a Commander and is still in the SW as far as I know. I have his email, I know a couple of guys that he shot with in 69,70. Do you shoot B25s or bullseye targets? 

I am seriously considering something like this for a fun match. We already shoot BE22s sometimes at 200 yard steel.

Mike, if you go on Facebook and search for "Carmel Gun Club", you'll see they've posted a photo album of the Gordon Nakagawa and RJ Thomas matches, if that helps you get a feel.

Possibly because none shoot as guaranteed. Check out the Ransom Rest tests done by "CattleLackRanch" on 1911 Forum.

FWIW & IMHO, Les Baers are not actually guaranteed to shoot 1.5"@50yds, even for the 1.5" guns. Their guarantee states something to the effect that the gun is made with the intention of being a 1.5"@50yds.
Wilson claims that their guns will do 1.0"@25yds or better.
Ed Brown's statement is that a well made gun will shoot 2"@50yds with the proper ammunition, or something similar.
I believe that the guns mentioned will shoot very close to their magic noted #'s, but not quite meeting their claims.
I have no reason to believe that AccuracyX's guns will not meet their claims/guarantees.
If you are a member of the 1911 forum search for the user names "CattleLackRanch" & "LongColt". Both have done pretty extensive Ransom Rest testing with very interesting results.

Steve Huff reminds me a lot of Richard Davis of Second Chance vest fame.
Richard would demonstrate his vest by having someone shoot him wearing it.

Sold a lot of vests that way.

Steve states he actually tests each gun in his ransom rest. I have no doubt he'd video the testing of your gun if you asked him.
