For Sale: Ruger MKIII Target

Post by Tim:H11 on 8/18/2017, 1:01 pm

Ruger MKIII Target Blued. Original owner. Volquartsen trigger and some internals. Magazine disconnect has been removed. Loaded chamber indicator is still in and works. Causes no issues in this particular gun. Very reliable. I have a set of "hi-viz" sights to go with it as well as a Bushnell Trophy red dot, tube extension, and rings. Stock rail mount is included as is the original box/case and paper work. Two pound trigger. All for $350 buyer pays shipping. Grip tape on the front strap and a brown patina - not rust - on the back strap. Been shot a lot. Not a looker but a good shooter. Pics soon to come or on request. Thanks for looking.

As an aside, has CMP approved the removal of the mag disconnect?

I don't know if CMP has approved it or not. But! I simply removed the magazine disconnect arm, and the spring, and replaced the MKIII hammer bushing with a MKII hammer bushing. If the buyer wants the magazine disconnect functional I will put it back in the gun. Not a big deal. It's a disassemble and ressassemble deal. Simple. It was not a permanent modification.

Reading rule 6.2.6 governing allowable .22 rimfire pistols, there is nothing in there that would prohibit removing the magazine disconnect feature as long as the pistol remains safe to fire....at least that's how I read it.

The gun still has a functioning safety with the mag safety removed. I can't think of a line judge that would call you on that, even if someone carped about it. Ball guns could be modded internally as much as needed as long as the safety works so I don't think the rule for a .22 would be any different The mag safety is internal and does not effect the safe operation if removed. That's how I see it.

I should add, I have run several .22 EIC matches and have never DQ'd anyone for having disabled the mag disconnect on a Model 41 or Ruger.  It is an internal mod and allowed under the rules.

Check out rule 3.7

I recall reading somewhere that the disconnect is not now a safety.
