Pardini SPBE 6" or 5"? Empty Pardini SPBE 6" or 5"?

Post by beeser Tue Oct 31, 2017 6:38 pm

As mentioned in another thread I'm thinking of purchasing a couple of Pardini SPBE pistols but can't make up mind whether to get the 5" or 6".  There are probably a lot of technical merits for each but in my ham-fisted hands they probably wouldn't be realized.  My main concern at this point is what version would have the greatest resale value.  I have a tendency of getting bored with hobbies and moving onto something else, as was the case the last time I purchased a Pardini and conversion over a year ago.  Having something that is easily resellable makes moving on less painful.

I would imagine the 5" would be easily be more popular.

Get the 5".  No real advantage to the 6", IMHO.  I wouldn't want a red dot way out there, nor would I want the additional weight.  I suppose you could take the weights out of the barrel shroud to lighten the front, but then you lose any (alleged) dampening affect of having the springs with the weights in.

The only advantage I could see would be having a longer sight radius for CMP rimfire EIC matches.  I'd save your money and go for the 5" version.

I saw one of the 6" last night. The barrel is ported. The shooter is still working to determine what he wants to do with regard to the weights. If you are planning to shoot Distinguished 22 matches with it, you do not want the porting. It felt good to me and looked good.

My Pardini came from Nygord, which means that it is late 90's or so. It shoots well but the one piece front end makes it a bit heavier than I might like. I am working on the 13th Warrior method for handling Viking swords to master the Pardini better. That method is "get stronger."

The Nygord Pardini was the first gun that I shot a 100-10x in timed fire with. But it has been more inconsistent than the Benelli that I also have. The Benelli is almost too light.

Hey beeser:

I'll probably be ready for a Pardini. 32 in a few months, and I'd prefer th 5 incher, so that's what you want to buy. Twisted Evil

I'll probably still be looking for a SPBE 22 so the 5 is my recommendation also.  Smile
