Roddy Toyota Springfield 1911 Bullseye Gun

Post by sakurama on Thu Nov 09, 2017 6:14 pm

I haven't shot with it now in three years as I find that with my kids getting to the excellent travel stage our summers are spent vacationing and winters are my time to shoot indoors. Also, I just like 22 and air better so my plan is to turn this into an Anschutz Match 54 of some variant. I'm still learning about them.

So onto my 1911. Roddy specified that I purchase a new NM Mil Spec because the castings are all USA forged and much better tolerances than the Brazil guns so that is the base of the gun. He did not want me to get a Range Officer as he was going to replace all RO parts. Here's a list of work done by Roddy.

* Fit Frame/Slide Barrel Lock-up
* "Bow-Tie" Frame Cut
* Lap Frame/Slide
* Fitted Blued Barrel Bushing
* Install Barrel Bushing
* Steel Bushing Wrench
* Full Length Guide Rod Conversion
* Wolff 10# Recoil Spring
* Colt #50179 Sear Spring
* Fitted Greider Long Trigger
* Install Trigger
* Toyota Slotted Hammer
* NM Sear
* 3 1/2#+ Action Work
* Fitted Flat Checkered MSH
* MSH Spring Cap/Retaing Pin
* 18# Wolff MS
* Toyota Deep Grip Safety
* Install Grip Safety
* Bluing Complete Lower
* Scope Base/Deflector
* Install Base
* 1" Black Ultra Dot
* Burris "Z" Rings
* Cocobolo Grips
* Hex Head Grip Screws
* High Grip Front Strap/Stippling
* Range Testing/Ammo
*      Four magazines - two stock and two upgraded.
*      Rink Medium grip with upswept palm shelf.

And additional trigger work was done by Reid Tiedeman which produced the smoothest and nicest roll trigger I've ever felt on a .45 and the gun groups 1-3/8 off a sandbag by Roddy. Nothing left to do except hit the X.

I have about $2600 invested and would like to get $2000. I'm interested in finding a nice Anschutz Match 54 so I'd consider doing a partial trade depending on the gun.

With the sale of the 1911 I'll most likely want to get rid of all my reloading equipment which includes a Dillon 550 and a ton of accessories, powder, primers, bullets, shells etc. not to mention the dies for .45 and for .32. None of this I use anymore and I don't see that changing. If you're interested in a package I'd need a bit of time to sort through all that and make sense of it but I figure I'd get the 1911 out there now.

What type of Anschütz Match 54 rifle are you looking for?

I think something like a 1907.

I was away over the weekend and I'll be trying to respond to the PM's and emails. Thanks,

I have 2.5 Roddy built guns like this.  Only they are Baer frames and slides.  (One is a 22 lower)  All are excellent guns.
