Is it me... Or, does trigger control seem much more sensitive for the 45 versus a rimfire? It seems like I can get away with MUCH more with the 22. The 1911, if I sleep on the trigger for a second it results in horrific shots.

Heavier trigger. Harder to negotiate. Very easy to mash down and jerk the gun. Sometimes has something to with separating the trigger finger movement and consistency of grip. Some people grip while pressing the trigger. Not good. Trigger needs to stay moving. Bang, gun recoils up and away, recover and reset trigger, begin press immediately. No waiting for when the shot looks good. Begin press when the last shot ends. Two things that help me: learn to recover consistently and quickly, and learn to keep the trigger moving.

I know for me its like this probably a few others. Depending on conditions like weather, wind, fatigue, arm strength, stability, injuries, breakfast, lunch, the phase the moon your trigger control will very.  On a day where i'm at my peak performance i could shooter a longer roll trigger hold longer and have less movement on the gun and just shoot better scores. Days where i had got no sleep, its raining, wind is blowing so hard gun boxes are sliding off benches, i've been eating day old gas station sushi, and i can't even hold the black of a target i would want a short short roll trigger so that i can come up on target feel im moving the trigger and get the shot off within my movement shortly after settling on the target.

With the 22lr you can get away with a weaker grip and poorer trigger control, that has just been my experience. Maybe it has something to do with 22lrs are blowback and less recoil and move less in the hand, 45s unlock differently and have harder recoil.

Some really good shooters have a 22 that has roughly the same trigger weight as their 45. some really good shooters have minimum allowed trigger weights. What works best for you, you'll have to find out.
