the browning buck mark field target pistol is new in their line up.

It has target sights a built in rail for eventual red dot and has a 5.5 inch bull barrel and an overall weight of 38 oz. I will probably quickly put a victory flat faced trigger on it and have a gun smith lighten the trigger a pound or so.. I am being told to stick with the black front sight for bullseye so this seems like a good choice without breaking the bank.. if I progress in the sport I add to this gun or step up to another later

Didn’t like the ruger, grip angle and how it feels in my hand.

Any thoughts?

Good pistol. You won't need a gunsmith to lower trigger weight a bunch. Utube has lots of videos on how to turn a spring over to reduce trigger weight. I have a newer one and its Grandpa. Both shoot nice.

One thing to keep in mind is that when using a straight trigger it's weighed  1/4" from the lowest point. Having a machine shop I made different triggers. I tried flat but didn't like them and the weigh location increases the trigger weight feeling. However that's me, I mention it because it's something you might want to consider.

I am doing fine starting with a Buckmark (also with bull barrel and full rail).   I run a red dot on mine.

I have installed both the VQ and the Tandemcross and much prefer the VQ.  Both took custom fitting.   VQ is out of production but still occasionally spotted for sale. SGW makes a similar trigger to the VQ.  http://www.saronagunworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=69

Mine likes Eley Club the best.

About how much does the new Browning go for?
Very nice looking guns but visually I prefer the bull barrelled 1. I take it that is the newest 1?

because I am new to the forum they won't let me post a link for the first week.  Go to browning website Buck Mark Field Target 5.5 inch it has the bull barrel. buds has it for $435 but most other places has if for $475-$500. it looks like a good pistol and something you can build onto as you progress.
