124 XTP load w/ WSF

I seem to recall someone posting some good 124 XTP long line loads for 9mm in the past but I have been unable to locate them through the search feature.

I'm looking specifically for proven loads for the 124gr Hornady XTP using WSF powder. I'm shooting this through 1:16 and 1:18 barrels, so they do not need to be the red hot +P that works so great in the 1:32.

I know someone out there has already spent lots of time testing, and would rather not waste time re-inventing the wheel.

I believe JIMPGOV tested them and other bullets. 5.0-5.4gr was where he saw accuracy at with WSF and 115/124 bullets.

Sorry got to ask. WSF is Winchester super field?  Better safe than sorry. Is this considered a low recoil load?  Thanks fellas

NOPE. 5.0GR OF WSF IS NOT A SOFTBALL LOAD. BUT IT IS ACCURATE. I RUN A 14LB SPRING WITH A SLIDE MOUNTED UD. JP

Yup. win Super Field.  I wouldn’t call it low recoil.  9mm ammo can give some snap and is very gun dependent.  As an example some Canadian surplus 9mm felt fine in a Browning high power but was very snappy in a German Luger.  Like oww! Snappy.  Shot well but was unpleasant.  No idea on 5.0 WSF and a 124??

Awesome. I’m not that concerned about recoil.

With factory nested springs, a Colt Light Weight 9mm Commander does fine in Bullseye with 115 HAP and 3.8 grains of WSF.  Recoil sensitive shooter thinks that even lighter will work, but will go lighter only after a lot more rounds using 3.8.  Was using 4.2 and 4.3 grains - likes reduction in recoil and increase in score from lighter rounds.

At the other end, a competitor used 3.3 WSF in 5" old Kimber 9mm 1911 (light recoil spring) and saw some rounds go through 50 foot target a bit sideways.  I stress old Kimber.

I have found the X Springfields too difficult to work on and do not care for the "extra" safeties.   A S&W M&P 9L CORE with Apex parts and Venom sight works well in Bullseye.  The 9L was rather easy to work on.  It is a M1.0 version as S&W seems not yet to have a M2.0 version.
