I need a year for a serial number please

Can anyone help me with a serial number look up for a date of manufacture or shipping for a S&W Model 36 (Chiefs Special) .38 Special caliber? Number J**2303 if that helps or if you need the full number let me know.

You might try posting on the Smith and Wesson forum. They'll need all but the last 2 or 3 digits of the serial#.  To get the exact shipping date, you'll have pay $50 to S&W for their historian to research it.
