Went pretty fast.
Finally put my Hammerli 208S up for sale on Gun Broker.
It is the only one, just search for 208S

IIRC, PayPal is a no-no with guns so I would recommend that you keep away from that.

Nice Pistol,

I treat the anti-gunners rules the same way they treat my beloved United States Constitution.
If anyone who is a member here now here buys it they will get the first shot at buying the mags, scope mount and spare parts.

It is kind of embarrassing to call myself Bob2670 on gunbroker. I have broken 2670 in practice but not an official match

Bob,

It’s aspirational. We’ll get there someday.

Upgrading, "good enough" and making the most of your shooting budget

Post by Bob Fleming on 6/19/2018, 2:31 pm

Switched back to the browning buckmark and marvel conversions.
I have not been shooting matches for several years and now retirement cash flow and health issues for my family and myself have greatly encouraged the sale of some things I would have kept a few more years.
The biggest advantage of the buckmark is cheap ammo. Back when I first made 2650 with the buckmark, I was shooting a whole brick 3 or 4 times a week.  The 208S was my way of rewarding myself for shooting 2650 in a match. My historical high scores have only improved 1 point with the hammerli but I did become more consistent. As everyone here knows it is stupid expensive to shoot the "cheap" SV target ammo appropriate for the Hammerli. I actually switched back to the buckmark a few years ago. It has always been true that the ammo will cost much more than any gun if you actually train and practice properly to improve your scores but the ammo prices have simply become outrageous.
The biggest disadvantage with the buckmark is frequently replacing parts. The 208S has only needed springs during 20 years but the buckmark is not built that well. For the price difference the buckmark is built better than I could expect (I retired as a Quality Control Manager) but the 208S is genuine Professional Grade. The ultra precise machining is a true work of art.
The biggest advantage of the 208S is the trigger. Absolutely transparent communication between what I see and the trigger pull. It is as if magic, no exaggeration but then that is a High Master kind of thing and most shooters do not realize what is going on when it does happen to them. If you have that magical High Master trigger pull, the 208S won't distract you in any way.
With all those adjustments the 208S trigger can be made to accommodate you. With the buckmark you must get used to the gun as it is.
There is probably much more but I just realized that the subject of upgrading, "good enough" and making the most of your shooting budget is probably well hashed out in other threads.

Bob, the gunbroker ad says 2 mags come with it, what other spare parts do you have?

That is all that comes with it, 2 mags and the test target which is worthless because it does much better with ammo it likes. Not mentioned or pictured, the trigger adjustment tool is also included. Now that someone has bid on it I can't change the description.

None of this other stuff comes with the 208s in the auction.
It will be sold separately.

I have the original box and manual but can't find it. ~~~~someday. Y'all wouldn't believe how many times I have moved since I left Colorado. Everything is mixed up/lost in some box somewhere and I can't unpack everything. But have found some things.
5 or 6 more mags.
A front sight that is 1mm shorter for a sub 6 hold. Same width as factory issued sight.
5 aluminum extended mag bases.
Ransom rest adapters for the 208S which I can't seem to find right now.
Spare springs: hammer, recoil and some others from those parts kits.
Extractor.
Probably 6 of the red rubber dry fire plugs.
The leftovers from 2 of the spare parts kits that Larry sold years ago.
Knapp scope mount with the back cut off to greatly reduce stovepipe jams when the mags are not adjusted correctly.
Original Ultra dot 4 dot with the larger dots and updated by Larry with the better rubber springs on the adjustments.
Weights. 210g in the box, one a little smaller and I could swear that I had the whole set of weights but they have to be found.
The other grip, used lefty or new right handed depending on which the gun buyer wants.

None of this can be sold until after the gun is sold and the new owner turns the parts down (if they are a member here). If you are in great need for parts then hit the buy it now button on my gun broker auction! $2,000 is a low price for this pistol.

I would like some help from the community on pricing these accessories. There is not much volume on these items in the market to establish going prices. It is all rare.
Ballpark or precise from actual transactions, all is appreciated.

Larry has aftermarket mags for $132 but not original Hammerli mags like mine.
