FS: H&N .314 Swaged 32 S&W Clones

Post by zanemoseley on 11/3/2018, 2:33 pm

I just got my swaging setup from Larry Blackmon, it's making some beautiful bullets. To help defer the cost of the equipment I figured I would offer some bullets for sale.

My setup converts the Speer Plinker bullets into H&N clones, they are .314 diameter and are very crisp and uniform. They make the Speers look bad to say the least. UPDATE (Dave Wilson has inspected & tested these bullets in comparison to true H&N bullets as well as his re-swaged Speer bullets, he noted some minor variations in OAL and base profile between my "clones" and the true H&N bullets, so in full disclosure mine are probably considered very close but perhaps not a 100% clone). His test targets (20 shots each) have been added below, the one listed BT-14T311 is one of his custom barrels (14 twist with a .311 bore), the second one listed BT-LORRAINE is a Factory Pardini barrel.

Also there is some good info here about the H&N clone swaging dies.

https://www.bullseyeforum.net/t9916-sw-32long-copying-the-hn-314-hbwc-for-reloading

My setup is the same as Greg's setup, both made by Larry Balckmon.

I can either re-swage your bullets or I can provide finished bullets to help cut down on double shipping.

Swaging Only Pricing (shipping extra)
100 - $10
500 - $25
1000 - $45
2000 -$85

I can fit 500 in a flat rate box for $7.20.
I can fit probably 3,000 in a medium box for $13.65.

Current bullet prices are $70 per 1000 plus swaging. So 1000 swaged bullets shipped would be $128.65, 2000 of them shipped is $238.65.

Before and after pictures are below along with Dave Wilson's test targets.

Looks like Dillon still has the Speer plinkers in stock.

Their site shows them backordered. I've emailed them and they said December was when they'd be back in stock.

I just placed an order to Dillon and nothing was mentioned about a back order.

Dillons site says "out of stock, backorder ok". I'm guessing they'll ship once they get a shipment.

Found some bullets in stock. I've updated the original post, I can now sell finished bullets without having to ship them back and forth.

That's intriguing. I'm not shooting the .32 much anymore but one never knows what the future will bring. Young Miss Bickar might want to shoot .32.

$250 plus shipping for 2K? Seems reasonable.

Yup $250 and should easily fit in a $13.65 medium flat rate box. I ordered 3000 bullets tonight, 1000 are spoken for, 2000 up for grabs.

I received my bullets yesterday and they are exactly as advertised. All the bullets I measured are .314.
Thanks

I just received 6000 bullets, 3000 are already swaged and sold so I have 3000 up for grabs.

Zanemoseley, will you be doing this for an extended period of time? Come spring and getting back outdoors, I will be ordering some.

Yeah I'll offer them year round. I don't plan on quitting my full time job lol. It will help pay for the swaging set up and maybe some reloading components.

I just received 1000 from Zane.  Excellent communication, quick shipping and they measure consistently .3145.

I will load some tomorrow and try them in my Benelli M 90 E in a ransom rest.

Thanks Zane

I measure .314" even with Mitutoyo dial calipers. I won't argue with a .0005" difference lol.

Ok broke out my Mitutoyo micrometer, it's reads .3142 - .3144" on average. Food for thought. The mic should be more accurate but I haven't checked either with a calibration block.

I easily get an.005 variance measuring lead bullets with my Mitutoyo micrometer.  For me, with little mechanical background/experience, just the pressure on it makes that much difference.   Using my swager, I tend to measure .3145, but........

For those of you using a RR particularly, please post some results.

A good experienced machinist helped me develop a touch-feel to be able to get repeatability of 0.0002 when using a micrometer.  That was without the friction thimble at all.  It takes practice but it can be done.

My Mitutoyo has the friction thimble, it would be tricky without it especially with a soft metal like lead.

I found a good deal on more bullets. So what I'm gonna do is average the price of the last 2 batches so it's fair on everyone. So I have 5000 bullets in stock with an average price of $75 per thousand on top of the swaging fees.
