Smith and Wesson Model 14-3 6''

Post by Tim:H11 on Sun Dec 02, 2018 9:30 pm

First off, I have no financial interest in this.

I partake in the distinguished revolver matches when I can. When it comes up for discussion I'm often asked what I use for a gun and ammunition. While scrolling through gun broker (our online gun show more or less) I came across this Smith and Wesson Model 14-3 6''. These are great shooting guns for DR matches and I earned my badge using a 14-3 as I'm sure many others have as well. I paid a fair bit more for mine but mine is in nicer shape. This one isn't so bad. The muzzle is questionable but for the cost of the gun theres plenty of room left to have it re-crowned if need be - and personally I wouldn't guess it would need it. This makes a great budget DR gun for someone new here looking for one and doesn't want to spend a ton of money on a gun that won't get shot often. Good opportunity here. Thought I'd share in case it helps anyone looking for one.

“Safe queen” 14-3 with a price of $459.  Must have put it in the safe after tossing it down the driveway a few times. Laughing

Not too bad a pistol for the price though.

Obviously the seller is just trying to make a sale. As always with gunbroker, examine pictures closely and ask questions. But again I thought it’d make a good budget gun for someone in need. Like I said I paid a fair bit more for mine.

looks like it spent some time in a holster, or not wiped down good before putting it in the safe,

as mentioned, not a bad price point, considering,

it will likely clean up a bit better

It may have been a police turn in.  The -3 14s were around when a lot of police agencies still carried them.  The subsequent owners may have not shot it much, hence the “safe queen”.  It still may be a decent gun, warts and all.

Holster wear may also be indicative of it's use as a PPC distinguished gun. Honest wear shows character.

They should've used some bondo on that one before they painted it!

Yuck! At least the one I found looks pretty good with minor flaws.
