Colt Custom Accuracy?

Are the pistols from the Colt Custom Shop accurate enough for bullseye?  Specifically, wondering if anyone has shot or tested the Custom Competition Model.

For the price of this colt custom,you will buy a Rock River 1911,they have a great reputation in bullseye. If you want to spend a little more in a custom build for bullseye,contact kc crawford,he build great bullseye guns.

If you are patient, you can get two very decent used BE pistols off our for sale forum for that price.

Not saying the Colt would be bad, it is just worth taking a look at what is available.  You could even put a Wanted ad up in our forum and maybe get your pick of pistols fitted out for Bullseye with scope mounts, gunsmith fit target barrels, etc.

As mentioned, you are well striking price of a custom BE pistol at that price as well.

Just some options for you to consider.

You should check here in the classifieds and on gunbroker.com searching terms like “bullseye”, “wadcutter,” and “wadgun.” Your bound to find better deals from proven name gunsmiths. Unlike Springfield Armory, I haven’t heard anything about anyone using Colt’s custom shop for bullseye guns.  I’d also take a Rock River Arms bullseye gun over the Colt.

the front sight (glow worm) tells me their targeting the 3-gun, idpa, crowd.
If I just had to have a new Colt, I'd probably grab their traditional series 70 Gold Cup NM in .45 for a grand less.

I bought the Series 70 Gold Cup and had Jon install a Kart barrel and do a trigger job and am very happy with it.  Comes out cheaper than buying a custom shop Colt.

Are Kart barrels that much better than Colts?  Just wondering.

It’s not that Colt barrels are bad, it’s about how they are fitted.  The Kart barrel installed in my Colt was hand fit for optimal accuracy and function.  The original barrel functioned fine but due to the way it was fit, the gun lacked the accuracy I wanted.

Thanks Paul.  My wad gun has a kart barrel and bushing and it does shoot well.

That pistol is an unknown as far as bullseye pistol shooting is concerned. Colt doesn't have a reputation for building bullseye match pistols. There are better options out there for that kind of money, some of which have already been mentioned.

Thanks for the responses.  I’m kind of a casual bullseye shooter and use my guns for other disciplines as well.  I just like really accurate guns - this way when I miss I know it’s me.  I will look at Rock River or having custom gun built.
