Hi All,

I was wondering if there were any go-to books on the fundamentals and psychology training needed to be a better pistol shooter?  Any highly regarded and widely read texts?

Best,

Joe

Lanny Bassham was already mentioned
Inner Game of Tennis by Timothy Gallwey
Pistol Shooter's Treasury by Gil Hebard
Competitive Shooting by Yuryev

Not books, but a number of good articles at bullseyepistol.com
There is a series of YouTube videos with Brian Zins about fundamentals and training
Also check online for an article by Keith Sanderson on dry fire training

+1 for Lanny Basham.

+1 for Pistol Shooter's Treasury if you can find or borrow a copy.

+1 for anything Ed Hall posts.

Golf is Not a Game of Perfect by Bob Rotella. One of the best shooting books I've read.

Bullseye Mind by Raymond Prior (Link to website) Excellent! I really like this. Each chapter is a topic so you can work through it in bites.

The following books published by MEC in Europe are deeper, longer winded and more expensive. I've not spent enough time on them to give a review. Here is a link to the MEC sight, but they are available from some of the US based target shooting shops.

It's very short, certainly not a book, but a good, condensed source of a lot of useful information:

Text for Fundamentals and Psychology of Precision Pistol Empty Old School text

Another maybe as much for historical purposes and to see how far the sport has come since 1939 but always enjoyed Reichenbach's, Sixguns and Bullseyes and Automatic Pistol Marksmanship - for those who remember the days when revolvers were considered more accurate than autos. Focus on middle finger as main finger (not that they don't all matter) for the hold has always stayed with me and pretty sure from that Samworth publication.
