Beretta 92fs
My club is in the off season for matches so I started shooting my Beretta 92fs more often. The 92fs already has LPA adjustable sights and shoots a pretty tight group if I do my job.
Using 147 gr 9mm ammo my groups are improving every time I shoot. When I went red dot (Vortex Venom) on my S&W model 52 and on my model 41 my scores improved dramatically. I have changed the trigger return spring on the Beretta, added a metal trigger, skeletonized hammer, a G model slide mounted hammer drop and a 13 lb. hammer spring. My trigger now measures a constant 1700 gr. or 3.7 lbs. Who knows, maybe I will shoot the 92 in a few centerfire matches.
I hope the improvement in accuracy will be the same will be true for the Beretta. I am using a Sight Mount Picatinny dove tail mount (https://www.sight-mount.com/) that also has fixed rear sights (in case you take off the red dot, you still have iron sights) and the Atibal mrd-V2 (https://www.opticsplanet.com/atibal-at-mrd-v2-mini-red-dot.html) reflex scope (which gets amazing reviews). I got it from Optics Planet for 15% off. I won't be able to sight it in until July 1.
This is not my gun, but the sight mount is what I am using. I will post my pic when I take one.

Very nice!
I have my Taurus PT92AFS (very similar, for those who don't know the gun) ready to take to my gunsmith on Monday to get all the parts installed that you recommended. I've got too many other "projects" going on, and not enough time. I'm curious how well it will shoot. I wish all my "toys" would take turns in asking for attention!!

Question if the army amu starts using the new sig for matches, will the 92 be obsolete? Can we still use the 92 in Cmp?

Heck yes, you can use the 1911, so why would things change? The new rules allow just about any kind of jacketed ammo and a wide variety of handguns.lablover wrote:Question if the army amu starts using the new sig for matches, will the 92 be obsolete? Can we still use the 92 in Cmp?

Re: Beretta 92fs
1) The Beretta M9 augmented but did not replace the M1911 in matches and the Sig won't replace the M1911 either.lablover wrote:Question if the army amu starts using the new sig for matches, will the 92 be obsolete? Can we still use the 92 in Cmp?
2) The list of approved pistols has grown since the Beretta was added and will not shrink with the introduction of the Sig.
3) The Sig is still light years off being match conditioned to match M9 and M1911 territory. We're talking basic things like adapting the rear sight base plate for adjustable sights, let alone the actual accuracy adjustments...

Re: Beretta 92fs
I have to ask..what’s the difference between 92fs and the M9. Is it just the designation?

P320, or M17 in Army/Marine/Air Force parlance and M18 (compact version) for the Navy.
The P210 is much closer to where it needs to be for a match grade bullseye pistol, but last I checked the respective services didn't have a bunch of them laying around to experiment with.

There are minor mostly aesthetic differences. The 92FS has 3 dot sights, the M9 has a dot in front and white paint in the rear u-notch.
Serial numbers and markings on the slide are different.
The M9A1 had a couple of improvements including frame rail, front strap checkering and better magazine.
The 92FS has a locking block made of steel while the M9 has a locking block that is made of glass.
That last part is a joke, but that's what it seems like sometimes.

Re: Beretta 92fs
After several issues with my base and scope loosening and shifting point of impact (my blue lock tight was old and did not hold) I finally got my 92FS sighted in. The target is 10 yards, off hand, standing. I think it is finally on point. The ammo was Freedom Munitions 135 gr HP. 147 gr flat nose Blazer shot equally well. I need to practice a bit more before I shoot it at a centerfire match.
