Service Rifle to Sell Question Empty Service Rifle to Sell Question

Post by John Dervis on Tue Aug 20, 2019 11:50 am

Hello all,

This isn't really Bullseye related but you guys are a wealth of knowledge so I thought I would ask the group.  Where would it be best to sell a service rifle?  The only competitive activity I do is Bullseye and this is the only forum I belong to so I'm lost.  These are kind of specialized rifles of course so I wasn't sure GB and the like would be the best bet.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.
John

Thanks for the suggestions.  Here is a picture along with the specifics that I have in front of me.  If anyone is interested, go ahead and send me a PM and we can discuss it further.  I looked up the current retail which is around $1300 but my guess is they do not sell for that much so I'm not sure what would be reasonable to ask.  $1000.00 maybe?  If I'm out of whack, let me know.

Rock River Arms NM A2
20" Stainless Barrel w/o flash hider
RRA 2 Stage NM Trigger
1/2" x 1/2" Apperature Rear sight
.040 front sight
I have the lead weight set for it too but they are not installed.  I've had this for a few years but it is unfired outside of the factory.

Did you contact any of the High Power guys form the ISRA?
John Neuman might be a good first contact.

I'll give ya 50 bucks!

If you think you can do better I think usrifleteams.com replaced nationalmatch.us a few years ago, but can't check from work.

I think you have to post 10 times before you can list anything for sale, you can ask for an exception.  Just like here there is always a new shooter looking for gear.

Possibly targettalk.org.

Generally, we stick to Bullseye stuff here, but why don’t you post up some info and a pic in this thread?

You were nice enough to ask rather than just post up a For Sale and that is appreciated.

Some Service rifle fans are probably clicking this listing right now just out of curiosity. Wink

Since there is so much overlap between shooters of both pistol and rifle disciplines, I submit a vote for our own commercial row in addition to the sites above.

I have added a description and a picture if anyone on our board is interested.  If no one here wants it, I will explore some of those other boards.

Thanks to everyone that offered ideas.

An unfired RRA iron sight service rifle for $1K sounds reasonable. It's a tough sell for what you paid for it because the rules have changed (anyone want to buy a Walther OSP or a free pistol for what I paid for them? Laughing)

usrifleteams and CMP forums are the places to post, as previously stated.

Free bump.

I'm getting old. I was hoping he had a M14 for sale.

Another free bump   And John I would love to buy a free pistol for what you paid for it. The older the better. I bought my 41 for 179.00.

It's not just you....I am right on your heels. I bought my 41 for $275, when Ruger Mark 1's were going for about $80 or thereabouts.

FYI, A2's Service Rifles are harder to sell since the rule change allowing up to 4.5X optics.
